Frustration and anxiety, I find is, part of the trials of entering adulthood. I've been where you've been in that regard, and I can tell you you can conquer it! If you fail, just keep going.

I think some people are taking "I should just hospitalize myself before I make any more huge mistakes." as me wanting to physically harm myself. I'm talking about mental hospitalization, just so you guys know.

Well, if you do think it will help, go for it. For whatever help it offers with your self-image, you are well-liked by many people. For however much it hurts, whether by creating pressure to behave in certain ways or whatever, we can fuck right off.

“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Yep, I know. I stand by what I said, though - even if you might think so right now, you're not worthless.

I wouldn't say you need to get yourself hospitalised. It might be worthwhile finding a therapist to talk to in person (I seem to recall a few people saying finding a therapist was the best thing they ever did), if you're really concerned.

If you think the best way forward is hospitalisation, you know yourself best and your judgment is trustworthy. It seems extreme to me, but again. I don't know your situation fully.

I can't speak to your ability to make it through college but having a mental illness isn't your fault and it doesn't make you less valuable as a person.

People who fail college out of laziness or apathy don't go back, and they certainly don't do it three times.  You're trying way harder than most people do to accomplish something most people take for granted.  It sucks, but its nothing to be ashamed of.  If anything you should be proud you're still trying.

It's interesting how I can wish I didn't know things that aren't surprising. Maybe read the link before clicking it, it merits some fairly major trigger warnings.

I was recently told that the first dog I've ever had has cancer, and likely won't survive the month...

Fucking fuck, mate. That blows.
That being said, he might make it longer than that. Cancer's a fickle bastard. Still, my condolences.

I'm going to second what everyone else said. You're not worthless, I think you're pretty cool (or whatever word the kids use these days), determination to succeed will eventually translate into success, and so on. You know how it goes.

Yeah, this sucks. Losing pets is never fun. Hopefully he can get better, or at least not suffer too much.

Unfortunately, the vet said that it will almost certainly be terminal. The only operation available will be expensive and won't prevent it, just delay it, and is more expensive than we can afford.

But, at least she won't feel pain from it, regardless of whether she undergoes the operation or not. I suppose she wouldn't have lived much longer regardless, as she's getting old (13 years old, and a purebred beagle; they live ~12-15 years), but...Still. Knowing that in all likelihood the dog I've had and loved since I was three years old is going to be gone soon...

There's nothing in our knowledge to make us think of you as worthless, alleeperson :v, in my opinion nobody is worthless untill they do something terrible like genocide, rape, mixing coke and nutella, or wearing bright green miniskirts.

@flame99: Ye, depending on the type of procedure, it'll just cause more and more pain for you both. Allowing her to have a painless death may be the best alternative, depending on the case.

I know how much that sucks tho, my first dog ever suffered from some kind of degenerative epileptic syndrome in his late years, and would do things such as repeately walk into walls. We took him to the vet but there was nothing we could do apart from giving him meds to control his convulsions. Eventualy he became blind and unable to keep his balance, and would literally cry when we weren't making sounds or touching him. We had him sacrificed, it was too much to bear.

Awww... D:

Losing a dog is rough. Our old lab got put down at the age of 14 while I was away for my first year of college. He'd been a part of the family for almost my whole life. Was quite hard to get a call from my parents basically saying I'd never see him again. Wasn't cancer, he had hip issues that were progressing to where he had difficulty getting up, standing, etc.

Sad part of owning a pet, eventually they gotta go.

Some fucker poisoned my dog just this winter. I still get little anger-seizures just thinking about it. Maybe being angry is just naturally easier on the mind than being sad.
I will never get another dog while I'm living in the city, though. I don't think he was happy just sitting in our apartment all day and walking around our block, given how much he liked walking in the woods back at my grandma's dacha. Plus here, there are infinite chances to be a shitbag and poison somebody's dog and get away with it.
