I apparently fell asleep in a very uncomfortable manner and now I have to keep my shoulder slack and my head tilted the other way to avoid pain.

Ow. :(

Using a corpse for a writing surface seems impractical.

Ha. Ha. Dark humour. Ha. Sorry.

No need to be sorry. You are only speaking the truth - human parchment is exceedingly impractical. Calf skin is better.

Everyone knows human skin doesn't take ink, even after it's been tanned.

You could use blood, but it would wear off exceedingly quickly.

Even more quickly than the ink, I would guess.

My hide has ink in it. It took just fine.

That's through the use of a needle, though. Presumably what we were speaking of was the use of a pen, which is only surface ink.

If the tattooist had used a pen to put the ink on, I doubt it would have lasted long.

I guess if you're willing to tattoo the vellum. I'm pretty sure written ink doesn't take well on human skin though, although that's probably information of dubious origin.

Now that I think of it, my info. on the matter comes from those books you mentioned earlier somewhere, the Belgariad. I'm fairly certain the grandfather old wizard whose name I can't remember talked about it, because some Religious scripts of the [Enter name I can't remember here] were written on human skin.

Yeah, I'm somewhat concerned that that may be my only source. Google doesn't want to give me anthing useful except a three-post AskReddit thread about where to get human vellum (??), which has nothing meaningful.

I, on the other hand, only found reference to a 19th Century fad in which books were bound in human skin.

Well.

The funny thing about those is that they were often bound in the skin of the author. Usually they were confessions before being hanged.
It's funny because human leather is useless.

Or you could brand your text into the hide. That would have the added advantage of giving your book a delicious ham smell.
