Vogon poetry is never boring.

That'd be too merciful.

That reminds me of the text adventure game.

I died about ten minutes after the Vogon Poetry bit.

Wanted to take a coffee nap but I got distracted and the caffeine kicked in before I could fall asleep...

Edit: Coffee Nap- I know it sounds dumb but it's actually crazy effective. Basically the nap flushes the adenosine (sleepy-chemical) out of your system and then the caffeine moves in to inhibit it.
Don't worry. Is science.

I'm worried about one of my clients at work who may have pneumonia.
The snr staffie on says it's fine though and this happens all the time.
I know more about medicine than them, so i kinda want to call up the after-hours line anyway, but I like this staff member and don't want to throw her under the bus by reporting something like that behind her back- and I don't have her number so I can't ring up.
If this person gets even worse untreated pneumonia I assume I would feel terrible as well as having my job (and the job of other staff member) in serious jeapordy, but it's 4am and I would seriously piss everyone off if this (short cracking breaths, possible asphyxiated vomit) is actually something which DOES happen all the time.

I am in such a massive moral pinch. Things like these generally end up as "not my job" until I can be successfully blamed for them.

Personally I generally wouldn't trust staffies to advise on medical problems in the first place.

Well, my fathers' solution when things like this happen in his ward is to report it immediately and make sure they get treatment, at least the treatment he's allowed to provide and send them to whomever can help further. Seems like every day he tells me n mum about "well we had a patient with a ___ problem last night and I had to call the hospital to have them sent out. Hospital sent them back couldn't find anything blahblahblah but heart rate still low blahblahblah."

He's a psych nurse though, so they usually have to send patients with treatable physical issues to a proper hospital. They have a doctor on staff that apparently can't read the heart monitor right, and sometimes the hospital won't take the patient until they're in critical condition and get sent over in an ambulance. Or try to dump a patient with a physical problem that's creating an unusual mental state on the psych ward instead of treating them. Washington state has the best healthcare system. The anecdotes can be so bad they're laughable. :P

Apparently the nurse is to blame if the nurse doesn't report the problem immediately and it turns into a life threatening condition, but they can't pin it on you if you did everything you're expected to and things go wrong because people with more authority over treatment ignored you.
