Sad: managed to knock my year-old laptop out of commission just by slamming my fist on the table one too many times. I have no idea how I've managed to do that, but now it doesn't work :S
That probably just means you knocked some kajigger out of place.  It can probably be repaired by a tech guy or something at a store.

almost reasonable amounts of sleep (somewhere in between 5 and 8 hours per night, usually in the latter end of the scale).
... What do you consider reasonable? That's... a bit on the low-end, actually. I think 8 hours is the average for a healthy adult? Between 7 and 9 at least.
Hence the "almost". I mean, i know people who sleep less than me. :v (also when i say in between 5 and 8 hours, it's on a day to day basis, probably averaging around 7 on the bigger scale)
As for what i consider to be actually reasonable, that'd probably be 8-9 hours per night, although given free reins, i'd sleep MORE than that (and my sleeping rhythm would be thrown into complete disarray). But for the most part, i either feel the classic "I HAVE NOT SLEPT ENOUGH" tiredness, or i feel groggy as hell all day. I consider the former to be slightly less disruptive, since it has a smaller impact on my mood.
It seems I mis-read you as saying "Almost unreasonable"

Damn UN, keeps getting into places it's not required. :V

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll see what can be done after Easter Monday.

Firstly thanks for the textdump on Choctaw, I read it and really found it interesting.
It's like Hearne describing Najavo. "There is no word for 'to give'. Instead there's about 14 based on the general size and shape of the object being given."

Makes me really glad I learned Japanese, which basically just requires you to know the difference between 'Wa', 'Ga', 'O' and 'Ka' and you can cobble together a speakable sentence out of a few very simple words.

Big tip to anyone going to Japan for whatever- take a weekend and learn Katakana from the internet.
Almost all the words they appropriated from the Americans (there is a Lot) is written in Katakana, so after translation it is just janglish, and it's a really handy thing to know.
Depato- Department store, etc.

I am out of Vegemite.
As an American who tasted that once, HOW IS THIS A BAD THING? :P

To the uninformed Vegemite is a British-y thing that is basically salt packed inside of other salt in some violation of physics for forty two levels or so, then its all whipped into toothpaste and then you put it on toast. And presumably dehydrate, what with all the salt.

Yep, as I can attest, it's not British. Never tasted the concoction in me life.

Sad: managed to knock my year-old laptop out of commission just by slamming my fist on the table one too many times. I have no idea how I've managed to do that, but now it doesn't work :S

My old laptop, half the keys stopped working when I slammed my fist on it in anger. And then the CD drive fell out when I threw it off a table mid-argument. I'm pretty sure when it finally packed it in it was probably my fault somehow, too. Man that laptop went through a lot. I would like to say I have moved on and grown as a person; I haven't physically abused my current laptop at all apart from pulling off a few of its keys, and let's be honest it didn't really need those anyway.

Re: Vegemite: You're all missing out. It is the best thing.
Vegemite goes with anything. Peanut butter, nutella, jam, mashed potato, avocado... I'm told it even goes well with a slice of tomato, but I dislike tomato on its own so that doesn't exactly appeal to me. You can even brew it into a drink, sorta like tea, which is great for when you have a cold.
Vegemite is pretty much the closest thing I have to a religion. Vegemite is the best thing ever.

Vegemite is the shitty version of marmite, and marmite is pretty shitty anyway.
