What religion is this, if I may ask? Where would they expect you to go, exactly?
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
I would have to go wherever the church leaders send me. I don't get any input whatsoever...

Had a very informative and interesting, yet depressing day in Geology class today. Basically, deforested areas along the equator will eventually kick up huge dust storms of Grapes of Wrath proportions and then just be deserts for future generations.

Do you really want to do that? You seem to have pretty strong doubts about it.

And I feel like crap again.

Hooray.

I'll just lay in bed all day and play Hearthstone. Hopefully that will keep my mind off it.

This too will pass. The only sentence that gets you through the day, tbh.

Alright, I'm stepping in here.

If you have the slightest doubt at all in your mind, a religious mission is not what you should be doing.
And yes, if you become a missionary for the LDS church, you have no say at all in where you go. You have to follow an extremely rigid schedule, that you go by every single week you are a missionary.
It is not fun in the least, and it is not something you should do unless you're very zealous devout about it.
I know this because I am (technically) a priest of the LDS church, and have talked to and met with many missionaries, and they have all told me basically the same stories about what it's like. It is not fun.

If you're not even sure whether it's part of your religion or theirs, don't do it. Period. If they try to force you into it, then talk to the people of the church, (without your family, if you have to) and tell them that you can not do this.

You really need to talk to these people about this. (If you have any questions at all about anything related to the church, or their missionary organization, just ask, and I'll tell you what I know.)

Would they be under any sort of supervision on this mission? If not then if worst comes to worst they could go there, say they're doing it, and not actually be doing anything; Or they could phone it in that one Simpsons episode.

I thought it might be LDS. And +1 to what mastahcheese said. From your post it sounds like you don't really subscribe to that religion, though those around you want to force it upon you. And, I might be wrong here, but I guess that this might feel like an impending doom and have something to do with your current feelings. But you don't need to do this just because they want you to.

The LDS have figured out the ingenious solution that, by sending missionaries in pairs, they're each afraid of getting in trouble with the other and thus force each other to stick with the program. Even if one or both of them may secretly want to run off, they're afraid of bringing it up.

Then corrupt them. That's yer new mission.

As a practicing Latter-Day Saint, I can second some (but not all) of the things is Cheese's post. If you don't believe it, teaching it to someone else is going to be difficult, to say the least. It's not that missions are terrible; it's that they are hard and take a lot of commitment. I've met many return missionaries say that it was great for them, but they do say that there is a very large amount of effort (one put it as "It wasn't the best time of my life, but it was the best time for my life"). If you are having doubts, you should decide what you believe in. Talk to people about this at some point. If you don't believe that you should go/don't want to go on a mission, you probably shouldn't. Talk to people about this; if you don't, nothing will happen.

If you have questions about the Church, I'd also be happy to answer.

(As a side note, you do have a choice about going on a foreign language-speaking mission or one in your native language, but yeah, it's not really up to the missionary where they go. It lets people hear about the LDS church in less popular places, too  :P.)

My party in the D&D campaign I'm running on here just killed a dragon that was sort of the make or break point of the campaign, and now almost every campaign thing I had thought up is almost lost because I forgot about it and I need to remember it all. Sadly, the only parts I know occur towards the end of the dungeon, and I'm mostly sad at the fact that I can't remember anything I had and hate myself for not writing this stuff down. I'm sort of wallowing in self pity, but I get entitled to it once per week where I let it out and then I let it go.

I recommend buying a microcassete recorder or mp3 recorder to avoid this in the future; they're easier to record notes on than a word processor or a pen and paper. Harder to access later though, so you might want to write the stuff down too afterward, but even if you don't at least you'll be able to have it recorded somewhere.
