I'm just going to continue structuring sentences to avoid pronouns for anyone I don't know well enough to pronoun. It's a bit trickier if you don't know their name, but doable.
Edit: Correction, avoid using gender specific pronouns. You, They etc. still usable obviously.

In sorry but yes it's hard for me to grasp why someone that has been treated as different their whole life and be rejected by everyone wouldn't be ok with being treated like a normal person.

If someone considers themself (Autocorrect, I do not mean himself. You idiot.) a girl, treat them as one. It really isn't that hard.

But why should we treat them differently if they are a girl? Ideally everyone should be respected as equals, not held aside and declared un-similar and in need of unlike treatment.

I suppose im in the same boat as cryxis on this one; nobody I know wants to be treated as an outcast or special case, and the general attitude in my area generally leans toward equal treatment of all regardless of circumstance as the polite and normal means of associating with others.

I'm not really sure what the difficulty is in understanding the concept of "refer to people by how they ask you to refer to them" as a form of politeness besides the fact that it is being so horribly miscommunicated. Not being right instantly is not terrible, but if someone corrects you then you should be polite, and change how you refer to them. This is what is expected if you want to be a part of human society. This is how it's worked for thousands of years for anyone who cares about other people. (though there have, of course, been a lot of people who don't care)

If something doesn't apply to your little bubble of the world then what-the-fuck ever, but at the very least there should be some acknowledgement that people's wishes for polite address should be respected instead of people turning so defensive when they realize that they might not immediately be correct.

I mean ya if they instantly correct me and don't like how I speak I switch but I've yet to be told by anyone round here to speak to them differently


Also that article smeep showed us definitely made it look like being wrong at anytime when speaking to them is a deep cutting insult

Ah, yes, of course if they request a correction it would be acknowledged. Its simply a silly thing to feel offended if someone can't read your mind.

On a more unrelated note, my girlfriend left for Canada yesterday. Soon as she got there she ran into a bunch of problems and now wants to come back home immediately. I had to sit thorough an hour and a half of being unable to help my crying girlfriend feeling homesick
