I got several nice things, but there was one white elephant: a copy of ESO. I should probably try it but I simply can't afford the subscription.
no don't, it's terrible. It could have been good but you will just end up bitter and angry at the string of terrible decisions the devs consistently make.
Here's an example (the one that I can most clearly express,)
Normal levels go to 50. After that, there are much harder to get veteran ranks that go to, as of now, 14. They require much much more exp, and they have promised a champion system that will drop the level back to 50 and give a sort of alternate advancement system. They promised the exp for veteran levels would be given towards champion points. That was when it was to 12. Then they increased it to 14 to make the content they were releasing more meaningful. Now, they are saying no matter what your veteran rank, 1 or 14, you are getting 30 champion points. That's it, your work means nothing.
When they accidentally shut down a campaign for pvp early, they kept promising to give something to the players involved to make up for it, eventually they briefly mentioned they weren't giving anyone anything and then just unstickied the thread about it.
The moderators on the forums are complete nazis, and I had a CS person outright lie to me about a warning having expired, only to get banned in the next warning and him try to twist it like I was lucky I got off that easy.
They keep nerfing things to the point where the variety of useful builds becomes less and less, while leaving certain things far too powerful. They have no concept of baby steps when it comes to balancing the game.
They DO NOT punish cross teamers or exploiters at all.
Like, I really really wanted to like it. But they don't even communicate with anyone on the forums about anything, they go to reddit where the rules are even more draconian, to the point where any dissent equals banning, to release info and answer questions, rather than face actual criticism.
I wouldn't even play it if it was free, tbh. I don't really like FTP MMOs anyway, but even if that didn't invite in a bunch of assholes that otherwise wouldn't play, I still wouldn't touch it.
You'll just leave bitter and pissed off and feel like you've wasted a ton of time on a game that has devs that are addicted to making bad decisions and don't even feel like they need to apologize for it.
