My head. Why does it hurt so badly. Can't think straight.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

I think we're all unfurtunately familiar with these ourselves. Sympathies to you both.

Super depressed, and I don't really have a reason.

there doesn't need to be a reason.

My worst depression and anxiety comes with no reason at all. You can't even try to fix the problem because there is no external influence causing it.

People will ask you what's the matter, and there is nothing to explain that makes sense.

Anyway, let us know if you need someone to talk to. Sometimes just talking helps.

Meh, I'm just frustrated. Frustrated about continually failing socially >.>
It's just sort of there, and there's nothing I can do about it. It makes me feel shitty when I inevitably think about it...

It's more like not meshing with the people you are socializing with, though. Unless you are stabbing people in the face during social interactions. I don't know if there is a way to "win" socializing. People suck, they are not worth the time. All the cool kids have cut them out of their lives.

that doesn't make it any less lonely

Kinda feel like I have some kind of obligation to post this here as a member of Bay12 but don't want to take from the current conversation.  So far I am apparently taking the news very well according to friends and family.  But I feel like I would be doing some kind of disservice if I didn't mention it in the only kind of social thing I do.  My Dad died in a motorcycle accident yesterday.

All I have to say I guess, carry on.
My condolences, Greiger.

My sad is that my father *might* be dead. Not really sure. He hasn't responded to any emails or phone calls or anything since August. And I haven't had time to drive up and check on him. Google searches for obituaries for him or my stepmother come up negative, but still....

...or he's decided that the whole "patching up father/son relationship after 10-year hiatus" thing just wasn't working out and has ditched me. I'd ask my half-sister, who's going to law school just 30 minutes up the road from me, but she doesn't want anything to do with me.

I suck at this whole 'family' thing.  :-[

Why, what happened??

*checks news*

.....okay, I'm going to go back to working so hard that I don't notice the outside world again.  :-\

Australian News. Hostage situation ends at around 2am this morning with 2 dead including the gunmen, a 3rd dying later in hospital.

So how many were there? The article only mentioned one guy IIRC.

Why. Why does this stuff happen. Why do people do these kinds of things.

Because people are [cannot think of a bad enough word for this]s, I guess. The question remains, however, about why people are such [cannot think of a bad enough word for this]s.
