I suppose he takes the stance that he doesn't have to take a stance, he can just nuke whatever thread on his own forums he wishes to. The mod still exists and I seriously doubt Toady would take any sort of action against it. Operating at that level, rather at the real theft/infringing level, is picking a fight with no winners and setting a horrible precedent that he cares what creative works come out of DF modding in terms of their content.
I was referring more to the act of using the game to simulate what's basically hate crimes, not to the act of making the mod itself.

I mean, if I made a game and people made a mod, I'd be ok with that, but if then other people used that mod in the game that I made to spread hate or rage or gruesome unpleasant stuff, I'd be squicked out at what I had some part in creating.

I'd also say that literally the ONLY REASON Gnorm could have had to do that was to piss off Smeeprocket, whose feelings on the matter are well known. Given that I remember him as the person who unironically called me a heretic, this doesn't surprise me.

I agree, he was clearly taking pleasure from the whole actions.

Damn you smjjames!

Did Toady say anything on the subject or did he just purge the thread in silence? Curious as to his response to his game being used to do...stuff like that. I know it was a mod, but the engine is DF, and Toady made DF.
Smeeprocket, I must extend my dearest thanks to you for putting together this project. I have no doubt that it will offer me an endless source of fun.

I removed the thread created by Gnorm as concerns the quote above.  Gnorm has also been removed.
I have to say, this is a really good response. "Gnorm has also been removed."
What Gnorm did pissed me off on some level I didn't even know I had, because I usually just get sad for a bit at this sorta stuff. Might have been a feeling of almost ... betrayal? I was here, chilling in the nice, helpful community we have and then, all of a sudden, that happened. After the initial WTF period had ended, I got angry, for the first real time in quite a while. I'm not even sure what exactly it was that got my blood boiling so much. I can see this kind shit IRL (not in that detail, but still) and honestly, just feel deeply, deeply sad. I'm just gonna stop here because this rant's not going anywhere, and is going to veer into WOT territory if I continue.

Damnit, of course I always miss the interesting drama. Judging by all the amusing reactions in here I would have liked to have seen what was posted. :(

Also: thanks for the advice-y things, guys, I'll take a look at the thread. Pretty sure any form of decent workout is going to involve exercise equipment though, as far as I'm aware...

You obviously missed this.
I can now personally testify that it's a workout.

I seem to have gained weight recently. My belt is getting tight. I really should force myself back into the habit of running/jogging a bit more, but I'm just so pathetically lazy these days. :(

I really want to try going to a gym, but I would have no idea where to start/how to use the equipment and I'd be ashamed of my physique... That's a big double-whammy of shyness and anxiety right there.
Also it would cost money, but that's not as big a deal.
I joined a place southside which is open 24hrs- Because we're gamers our sleep schedj is pretty crazy, and we can go in at 1-2am.
At that time, the gym is absolutely dead. It's really peaceful and honestly makes working out into a pseudo-fun activity- plus the workout right before I go to bed means I sleep harder and wake up better.

I suggest this- though I'd also suggest finding another late nighter gym buddy to go with and show you the ropes.

Yeah, he's a banned spammer. Normally we'd delete this thread too, but people were having too much fun with it by the time we got here.

Something has happened to my Great Grandmother.
I don't know what it is, but there's a decent chance it's bad.

I don't want this. I can't handle this. Please.

It's really sad to hear that about your great-grandma. Seconding the wish that she's alright.
