I'm sad that the situation and verdict in Ferguson seem to have been a siren call to every racist troll on the Internet. Can't look at a single comment section anywhere without tripping over jaw-droppingly blatant bullshit.

Anything that empowers racists is a bad thing, m'kay?
Have you stumbled across those 'Anti-racist is codeword for anti-white' people yet? They're well beyond the regular degree of 'racist twat'
Race-traitor is one of my favourite ridiculous things.
Like everyone meets up in the race club every week and makes a blood pledge to each other.

@Yoink, atleast it's better than having some and remembering how big of a douchebag you were back then.

Seriously, if I had a chance, I'd punch kid-me so hard I'd break my own glasses.

Anyways, in unrelated sads, I think I'm heading down that "everybody actually hates me" spiral again. I'm not sure why I'm freaking about this now, especially since everybody has been super friendly and all that. But nope, my asshole brain apparently can't cope with the fact that I might be a likeable guy now, it's all one big conspiracy with everybody just pretending to like me while they secretly hate me behind my back.

I mean, what the actual fuck :C

Well here's what the live news last night said
(And they gave a run down of what has been happening by from shooting to verdict)

Cop is helping some people out after their kid stopped breathing or something
A police report comes in on a robbery
The other cops lead but this one stays to make sure the EMS gets there
He then leaves in the direction of the recent update on the robbery
There is a description of the robber given out (his clothes and what he stole and that there may be one other possibly male person with him)
The cop is driving along and sees someone that matches the description
The asks them to stop (he also noticed that the one match g the description was holding the possibly stolen items)
Words were exchanged
The robber (Michael brown) aprouched the police car
Exchange of words and possibly insults
Brown begins to reach into the car and a struggle begins (supported by physical evidence as well as testimony from eye witnesses, these eye witnesses do include African American people)
Other officer tried to defend himself
He could not reach his pepper spray or cane without putting himself in more danger
He draws his gun and warns brown say that he will shoot him if he does not get back
Brown attempts to get the gun
A shot goes off (possibly the one that hit his hand)
(A couple more shots may have also possible gone off during the struggle)
Brown runs
(This is where eye witness gets iffy but the physical evidence supports some of the eye witness stories so this is what I remember the news saying)
The officer chased after him
Brown turned around (and possibly charged back after the officer)
He did not put his hands up (some eye witness reports even say that he was charging towards the officer or had his hands raised up in fists)
The officer began firing
Brown ran towards him (IIRC)
The final shots were fired (one grazing the top of his head and the last hitting his head directly)
The officer is later examined and evidence of physical injury is found (ie. being punched in the face)

Later riots and unrest begin
This continues and then begins to calm down into peaceful protests for a while
About 2 months pass
Verdict day is announced
Crowds form
Verdict is given
Crowds begin peacefully protesting
Then they start insulting and throwing things at the cops
The cops begin firing SMOKE pellets into the crowd to disputes the crowd
Shots fired (don't know who fired them but I was watching this live)
People begin leaving and now the dedicated mob is left (around this time is when the mob attempted to destroy a police car)
Armored vehicles and riot police are out
One protestor blocks their path with several supporters off to the side and many more down the road
The mob begins burning trash cans, one bicycle art thing, and a cop car
Tear gas and smoke pellets are being used now
The mob is being pushed back and they begin burning and looting in other areas
Riots and control of the streets go on all night
There are still protesters today, now nation wide

Just clarifying the ferguson thing for people that didn't get the live news feed last night

wow you know so much, were you on the grand jury? Perhaps you were present for the whole thing?

It's not like cops aren't generally incredibly racist, or that this cop had a history of racism that might have affected his judgement, or that he didn't know about the robbery, or that killing unarmed black men is actually a rather common past time for cops.

I slept until 2:40 today. This is by far the latest I ever slept, completely unintentional. And this was after getting up and eating breakfast.

Back in my college days, I could sleep till 5 p.m. easy. I mean, I stayed up till like 6 a.m. but still

Man, I miss sleep. These days I'm lucky if I can manage a solid 8 hours thanks to kids.

I am young, but I taught another younger lawyer the game....

She showed an immeasurable promise and what I mistook for impenetrable morality. I found proof that she knowingly aids corrupt elements currently under indictment for public corruption for her personal gain. I gave her the opportunity to explain to me how this could not possibly be what it looked like or at least a damn good excuse why it was exactly what it looked like. She was furious at me and not at all polite about frankly ... being caught. She had taken my methods and used them for far less than moral ends. I did not have time to teach her everything and she fell into the obvious traps for the corrupt I had set, but never imagined would snare her.

She threatened to try and turn it on me.  :o Others have tried and failed. That doesn't work well, and I explained exactly what I would be forced to do if she tried. The look on her face revealed that she had not anticipated I had considered that, was aware of said countermeasures and the counter to the countermeasure. I invited her to turn herself in so they would go easy on her. To put it mildly, she declined somewhat violently, though less physically forceful than she thought. The blow was and is emotional, and quite. It seems I cannot save her from herself. Failing to do so is quite a regret of mine.

I feel rather like Daedalus, watching Icarus fall.

God damn it. Eventually the prosecution are going to figure out who keeps sending them incriminating materials.... :(

I believe I'm drunk, though there seems to be some of those pesky feelings hanging around. Sobriety seems to aid the perceptions causing the feelings.

Damn... just, damn, Truean. That really sucks. What a betrayal :(

Guess it's good at least that she wasn't able to turn around and hurt you legally. But seriously, that has to hurt.

Isn't there a thread for the whole Ferguson thing? Why is it cluttering up this thread?

@Yoink, atleast it's better than having some and remembering how big of a douchebag you were back then.

I guess... but at least that would be somewhat interesting. :-\
Although I know I've daydreamed about travelling back in time and smacking some sense into my younger self, heh.
