I told my friends I was diagnosed with anxiety and they said that they had always thought I had it anyways.
My mom still doesn't want me to tell people, but I don't know why.

E: Holy hell, I can't post because new replies every time.
What doesn't she want you to tell people?

So. Today in Spanish class, the topic suddenly veered to- of all things- LGBT.
Not a nice discussion. Horribly one-sided, too. *sigh*
Glad that your ideals stick to what is objective than theirs of being stupidly subjective :-\
Don't let your humanity waver in that kind of environment.

@_@
Talk to your DAD then :D (and then branch out seeking for support that way, and/or read up books in the library to aid and understand what is being done to you--preferably in the social section of your library; ask the clerks details on attitude and speaking books o_O)
My school's library is closed for repainting, my dad gave up on helping a while ago, and the public library doesn't have very many books...
Most are fantasy or romance. None that would help here. Unless I learn Tagalog or Russian, those are strangely larger than the English nonfiction section.
o_O
...There are tagalog books in Canada? oh. Misread particular details there.
Because the thought by which made me post such recalls several books in that category which help a lot--if not others, then at least you, the reader--in understanding such attitudes.

Deleting emails and walking off? Not an attitude for you to develop anyway :/ That does not stimulate wholesome communication.

My mom still doesn't want me to tell people, but I don't know why.

E: Holy hell, I can't post because new replies every time.
Tell people, and seek aid dude :<
Nobody can help if they do not know--we know, and we push you to seek more holistic aid (as in physically over there) :O
If not, we're always available for help but the best way is a professional well-versed in those kinds of aid. Which in particular I believe exist over there :P
Tell people who can help you. If she can't explain why--then where I can assume that comes from is limiting contact :-\

Teachers, I don't actually trust most of them enough
In my experience... don't trust them.
I was a odd child and lets just say that my experience in making a teacher a confidant blew up in my face...
It is why I LOATHE those personality test things they give students even in university.
I have never heard of these personality test things. Ever. Except for that nonsensical "don't do anything until I tell you to" one where they proceed to tell you to do a whole bunch of stuff and then get all pissy because you didn't wait for them to tell you to do it

...

From experience, dads are usually terrible at dealing with their wives. As evidenced - "tough it out" is less than ideal advice when dealing with a parent who is borderline abusive.
It's not nice for y'two to generalize :/
> Don't talk to teachers because 'this one event happened to me and the emotional catastrophe was bad' :-\
Also personality tests exist, Orange >_> Research them up before concluding and applying a stigma to all of them, please.
Especially you, Neo. That's generalizing the teaching profession--just because a certain individual or individuals caused such an occurrence, know that people are different :V

You want an example? Look up Helen Keller, in a time where people with physical disabilities were looked down upon, or generally stereotyped into being less functional. Or even Einstein's youth. He had a terrible one wherein lots of people said, generally, 'no u can't be great u suck'. Who helped them? A teacher~
But this is me giving a superficial response to your superficial conclusion <_< Seriously, look up what is real and analyze the perspective holistically instead of verging on subjectivity to make a conclusion. Therein the latter lies danger of advice. :-\

I was supposed to play Pathfinder with some friends today. I was looking forward to playing, too. I was trying to find a free outlet to plug my laptop into when I accidentally knocked over a lamp. The bulb broke, and my friend's dad basically exploded. My friend took the fall for me, but his dad started screaming at my friend and began trashing the house, throwing just about everything he could get his hands on.
He... Started breaking and throwing everything in the house because a single lamp broke?
I can't even.

It's my friend I'm worried about. He's hanging out at his girlfriend's for now though.

Yeah, his dad went nuts. Started throwing everything. Our coats. All of the game cases and consoles. Even threw the wiiU remote-screen-thing at the TV, and slammed a laptop on the floor. Apparently the lamp was important. Had a special light-bulb, or something.

I told my friends I was diagnosed with anxiety and they said that they had always thought I had it anyways.
My mom still doesn't want me to tell people, but I don't know why.

As far as I can tell she is embarrassed about it. But I don't know. She doesn't even want me to tell my own family. Except my nan, because she's my mother's mother.

But telling her backfired horrifically, as I mentioned here before.

Tell people that can help (emphasis on 'over there', like your dad, and then move to asking him who you could ask to look for more help; its like a chain of events from people who're open to help). Embarrassment may come from when you can't actually handle or aid the situation but refuse for others to do so because of...many things, really. Ask and tell someone else over there, because they can assess your situation better--we can only know so far that you tell us, and the responses vary from the depth of how we see it.

Oh, there are Tagalog books. But, I don't speak Tagalog. It makes it a bit difficult to read those books...
And, I doubt they have the books you are referring to. Tagalog is a language, last I checked...

And I actually don't trust most of my teachers. Also, they wouldn't know how to help. I have told other adults I'm close to, but I just get a "good luck" type response...

What kind of special light bulb? Seriously.

Sure I would get a bit upset if someone accidentially broke a special expensive lightbulb (none of which I would imagine to be in a lamp), but definetly not berserk rage mad. I mean really, what's so special about it to send him into a berserk rage?

Sounds like your friends dad has anger problems.

I know they exist - I've been subject to more than a few. I've just never heard of (proper) tests being conducted in a school environment.
I also didn't mean to apply stigma. I am, however, somewhat opposed to the test I described. I don't know what it's called, but I remember it being nothing short of ridiculous.

I still think you have some kind of crazy beacon attached to you.

I'm still wondering what kind of special light bulb (and no, flourescent or LED does not count as 'special') it is because the only kinds that I might think of as being 'special' wouldn't normally be found in a regular lamp.

It was a magic lamp? Had a genie?

Fluorescent bulbs are "special" now?

I am a bit hesitant about telling my dad. He tends to worry a lot, and I don't know how he would react to something being wrong with me. I'm not really certain of who I can tell about my anxiety.

Just because you have anxiety, doesn't mean something's wrong with you. If you broke a leg, something wouldn't be wrong with you. Harmful, yes. Problematic, yes. But anxiety is just like anything else. It's an obstacle, not a fundamental failing of -you-. Of course, take my advice with a grain of salt. Or a tablespoon of it. :P

okay realtalk

is everybody on b12 a cool person who is kin to serial killers

this is a problem that is seriously starting to worry me because I am aware of at least a dozen users who have batshit families, and it's super not good. I want to take all these people to waffle house so we can have nice conversations and talk about the weather and shit without them having to deal with all this fuckin bullshit from people they should be able to trust and confide in.

shitty families disgust me.

For the record, I doubt anyone has ever not had an occasional family issue. Or problematic family member. Or batshit insane troublemaker who happens to have children.
