I sit here, miserable as I always seem to be lately.
For some reason, I decided it would be a good idea to stay friends with the person who said she just wanted to be friends.
I still want to be with her, like, a lot. I've never cared for a person more in my life.
So, stupid, jealous, petty me, get's put into the most miserable state of being every time the very notion of her dating someone else is mentioned.
Yet, for some reason, I choose to keep being friends with her. Whether it be because I enjoy being friends with her, or because I still hope that she will change her mind about me, I don't know.
It's leaving me miserable, and I don't know how much more I want to deal with.
I'm not really asking for advice here, I know I'll just get one of multiple responses I won't listen to, among them:
"Just be an asshole to her, works every time."
"You're only in high school, there will be others."
"etc."
It's just so annoying, here is the person that is everything I want in a person, and she's keeping herself close enough that I get my hopes up, but far enough for me typing this post to happen.
I don't just want to stop being her friend though, we've been really good friends for years now, but I'm at the end of my rope.

Being an asshole never helps and it hurts.
Honestly the easiest way is to just get scientific about the whole thing. If necessary, tell her you've still got feelings and it's making the friendship difficult; she'll either be understanding and tiptoe around topics which give you chestdrop, or just sever the friendship for your own good like you won't be able to do because you're a lovestruck idiot.
Either way it's win-win. Old flames never really go away, but it Does calm down after a while so you can always take the sabbatical until you feel you can handle a "just friendship".

Take that advice seriously. I'm willing to tarnish my hard-bitten reputation to give it to you, and I don't want you dismissing it out of hand because you're a blind fool who doesn't have the willpower to save yourself.

How about the advice of "put it all out there and screw the consequences" sound?

As for me, I just spent an all-nighter banging my head against the wall for some homework code to get turned in. I got nowhere, and I could have been studying for a German test I have in two hours, or even just sleeping. Sleeping would be nice.

Yeh, she's, like, technically a he, but not. Gender vs biological sex stuff. I think. I'm pretty sure. It's hard to keep track of who is what without notes.
