Oh, huh. His last post was last month last I checked.
Last post. He's been online since then.

Tell me, as a person who finds it hard to make friends, how do you combat this feeling of loneliness for four months with minimal social interaction outside your family and the internet (which doesn't fill the feeling of socialising that much)?
If you can, you should get a dog. A friendly one. As long as you walk them as much as you ought to, guaranteed to help you meet people.
I'm just going to say that while dogs are much more friendly than cats, they are also much more needy.  So unless you're willing to commit a decent chunk of your time every day I'd consider a cat.  You can ignore cats for a little bit and its OK, not so much with dogs.

Don't worry; that gut-clenching apprehensive feeling of "any second now I'm going to crash and destroy everything! AAH!" will begin to go away as you practice more and as your confidence in what you've learned increases. ;D

You get used to it.

Sads: Got one of my roommate's stupid fishing rods stuck in a door and broke the tip. Happened because one, I was trying to help carry too much of their shit back to the dorm, and two, the damn rod was taller than the whole damn door and is a bitch to move anywhere  when your hands are full, and three, he insists on needing to have 9 different rods for fishing during a two or three day trip away from the college. So, rather than carry all 9 rods himself or some shit, he enlists the help of his roommates.

Of course, the rod was one of the most expensive, 300 bucks. Dude is mildly miffed about it. Apparently you can't just fix the tip of a damn stick for catching fish. May have to pay him back for it or something. I don't know. 300 dollars for an over glorified pole because my roommate won't handle his important shit himself seems stupid though.

FML. Was having a shitty enough day, didn't need this drama as well. Least I haven't been punched in the face for it. Yet. Half expect him to.

On the bright side you got to touch an enormous rod.

Wait, the penguin greatorder is the polar bear greatorder? I thought you were two separate people... Sorry!

I'm sorry! I won't mess it up from now on.

So, a few days ago I removed 50% of my Facebook friends to see how many actually care, and none of them did. Looks like I only have 1413 left...
Who needs them anyways, right? Right?

This. I felt the same way at first, and within a couple of years I was confident enough to take thousand-mile trips. And look at me now!

I was pretty confident in driving about a year after I started learning. Still not very good, admittedly, but I no longer have the crippling fear of crashing and dying horribly.

Hard science is like a sword, and soft science is like fear. You can use both to equally powerful results, but even if your opponent disbelieve your stabs, they will still die.

After I totaled my first car, I couldn't sleep in a moving vehicle for four months. It's good that you're moving on, braj!

My second wreck was just a minor bump that knocked the shit out of my headlight. Incidentally, I turned about 400% more racist for about 30 minutes after that wreck. It wasn't a good day :/

From what I've heard, Facebook doesn't give any sort of indication when a person unfriends you. So unless you interact with them a lot, they have almost no reason to believe anything has happened. There's also the possibility that they do know and they assume you hate them, so they don't want to press the issue.

My first car was also written off.
Hey, me too!

It wasn't even too badly damaged, but the airbags deployed (even though they did absolutely nothing other than lightly singe my hands) and replacing them would have cost more than the car was worth. But it was a nice little car, a 1990-something Ford Escort, I believe.

Unfriending people on facebook is kind of a weird thing in terms of social context. People could take it any which way, depending on how much weight they put on facebook, if you know them in person, how often you talk to them, etc.

Some people could take it as "Eh, who cares?"

And to others, it's the deepest insult possible.

It goes away after a while.  The only times I get the feeling of "Oh god oh god I'm going to crash any minute now" is when I'm on the interstate, or driving in really cramped areas.
