I must confess I am somewhat disappointed in this thread. I brought him here in hopes of cooling him down, deescalating the situation, and explaining. I know he's said some really unwarranted things, but it doesn't ultimately help anyone to take shots at people and continue to dress them down when they're in an argumentative mood.

The conversation actually was cooling down before Toady came in. Don't think anyone got banned, emphasis on think, not 100% positive, but with any luck everyone can just move on now.

Around the time GWG was banned I looked at the list of such things and noticed that most bans occurred near the last release so it isn't horribly surprising to me that moderation has been as heavy as it has been. Though I think the list was instituted/altered in some way around then.

I predict the entire forum[Yes, even Threetoe.] will be banned when DF V.1 comes out. It is inevitable.

All jokes aside, forum drama/flamewars on sweet precious Bay12 is pretty depressing.

The whole increase in bannings is (maybe?) due to an increase in forum members, which tends to happen around major releases.

I tend to associate "forum drama" with things like the Scanfad. Now that was dramatic.

Initially, users like Tawarochir, myself and a few others changed their avatars to Descan's in order to mess with people. It later evolved into people photoshopping pieces of their avatars onto Descan's.

It was something someone else initiated in one of the emotion threads because someone made a comment about seeing Descan everywhere. Then it INTENSIFIED. And now most people who haven't developed a split personality on the matter have reverted.

I, for one, wouldn't mind a kill-sat fad.  It would be interesting to see what everyone's favorite killsat would be.  Whether they like Ion Cannons, Thor's Hammer, or... um...
I know a lot fewer kill sats then I thought I did.  Strange. 

The only way I keep MZ and MSH different in my head is remembering that one has a longer name.  I don't bother memorizing any other differences.
