It's been over a week. I figured that their fighting would have died down a bit by now, but apparently they've gotten worse since I left. Or rather, he's gotten worse.

They both have valid points in their arguments, but the other side refuses to acknowledge them, and they both spout bullshit that isn't true or is heavily exaggerated.

I guess it's a sign of the changing times.

Out with the old and in with the new.

But I guess his term ended as he always was: arguing till the ends of the earth

Also, why are cats associated with females? I don't mind, I'm just curious.

For some reason I've been really overly sensitive to people calling me "sir" for the past few days. I have no idea why, I'm usually used to it, but suddenly every time I hear it feels like a punch to the gut.
Who calls people "sir" anyway?
I do, if you'd translate po/opo from my language. Then you'd be hearing it almost everytime I'm speaking to you. :v
It's more of a gender neutral...honorific(?).

I do, but usually it's mostly to people with well-curated beards.

I feel pretty shitty right now. I'm finally feeling emotions again instead of just being numbed out, which is good, but at this point I seem to be spending most of the day crying and/or trying to work up the guts to deal with another bout of crying. I've got other things I need to do. Yes, they can all wait until tomorrow, but I'd like to get something done today instead of just feeling terrible.

do you hear that, emotions

I'm talking to youuuuu
*hugs*

Being called "sir" unnerves me too, though I imagine it is for a different reason than Allee. Especially when they are obviously doing it out of fear. I'm not going to hurt you, dammit, I'm just trying to get my errands done!

Maybe because cats are soft and furry and women have been associated with being soft and furry....wait...that's not right at all!?!?

I occasionally call people sir in a playful fashion, usually when I'm thanking them for something.

It is kind of odd that cats are associated with femininity, because they're also seen as independent, aloof, and emotionally detached, which doesn't fit the traditional (and stupid) female stereotype.

That may be the traditional stereotype, true. But the sway in their walk may be seen as feminine. Even at the time, women could be aloof with their own husbands, if not independent, and the courting of ladies at court could often start with the woman holding some mystery, and therefore power. But anyway, we're talking about the modern interpretation. If you go back to the time, then women may not have been associated with cats. And, if they were, then it means the source is even further back than that.

I do believe though that, whilst social convention may have stifled them somewhat, women did have recognisable attributes that could have been associated with cats.

I always just assumed cats are considered feminine because of how dogs tend to be bigger than them.

Feminine cats and masculine dogs.

I think feminine power, when women are seen as having any at all, is seen as aloof, cold, elegant, and delicate--all kind of cat things.

Don't think about the stereotype of the average woman, but of the stereotype of the queen.

I can definitely see that.

I call people "comrade". It's still sorta traditional here, in that everybody does it. I also sometimes call people the Russian equivalent of "sir" (gospodin), but only if I wish to insult them. Or if I'm engaged in some sort of BDSM relationship with them, since gospodin literally means "master".

But that doesn't happen often.
