Ah well, such is the way of life. Sometimes I look at a lot of stupid internet arguments and wonder if it's impossible to have a proper discussion on the internet, sometimes a roleplay goes terribly and I wonder if I'm just bad at roleplaying. Also, I've seen terrible arguments end up with everyone completely hating each other about subjects more petty then Pikachu. Plus everyone knows that blue one with the stripy tail is the best pokemon so it never really comes up what your favorite pokemon is.

The goal of an argument on the internet doesn't have to be persuading the people that you are arguing with.  It can also serve as an exposition of ideas, and the what kinds of people those ideas.  It's not very fulfilling, but it does have value.

The tantrum spiral thing, I can't really defend, though.

It's educational, for both sides. If you can't defend your belief, then you shouldn't have that belief.

It's not the "lack of defense for your belief" part that's the problem. It's the fact that no-one is backing down from defending their beliefs and all of them think they're in the right, so the argument just becomes a standoff rather then an actual debate.

That would force inarticulate people to be nihilists.  x3

I think I'm either missing context or the cause of sads is one specific thing that happened recently. o_o

I'm not going to stand down on this.

I am absolutely right, and you are absolutely wrong. :P

But nah, when it comes to the stand-off point it either dies or turns into something else, and so the cycle goes on ad infinitum.

To be honest, most of this sad comes from the Cataclysm forums. The arguments there are just really bad. The game itself is great, but the community is more poisonous then 4chan at times.

It is true that the arguments do turn into something else there... they turn into more arguments. Usually the same thing in a different dress. Luckily this doesn't happen on the Bay12 forums that often.

Also, it's not the blue pokemon that's best.

It's Pikachu, if only for simple iconic nature of it.

I mean, come on, it's obvious.

YOU TAKE THAT BACK THIS INSTANT. The little blue pokemon is circular and has a little white stomach and little ears like a dog AND DEAR GOD IS IT ADORABLE.

Sort of a minor sad compared to most, but...

I went to the local pet store the other day because I'm looking for employment and wanted to check to see how well cared for their animals were. Surprisingly, they all seemed happy and healthy.

The sad was that they had a pair of beautiful friendly male rats on display and they let me put my hands in the cage. They grabbed my fingertips with both hands and nibbled gently on my fingernails. Cue me suddenly feeling like crying because my own pet rats died several years ago and apparently I actually miss them really hard.

I won't be able to get any animals until I move out, and it sucks...  :(

No, it was rounder and furrier. It was really, really cute and I'm quite sad I can't identify it.  :-[

I think Noibat's the cutest but I'm biased.
