Try living in Canada. We don't get THAT hot, but it can get up to 30, 35 degrees.

Couple that with near-arctic levels of cold in the winter... Especially THIS winter, when it wasn't "near" arctic. :I

Oof. We get temperatures like that pretty much every summer in California, depending on where you go. Today we don't get quite that hot, but close.

I woke up this morning with dried blood in my nose and mouth, a splitting headache, and the entire room smelling like barbeque. This can only mean one thing: that once again some nearby part of California has become dry enough to spontaneously combust. Can't go to class today, as I'd have to bike there and in these conditions that would cause a medical situation.

California's forests and chaparral have always burned as part of their natural life cycle. The plants have actually evolved to rely upon it for dispersing their seeds and clearing the ground for new seeds. The longer it goes without burning, the more fuel builds up and the worse the next fire will be. It just sucks to be around them when it happens, though.

The climate here is getting more arid with each passing year, but there's always been fires.

Just played the Stanley Parable.
It started with me trying to explore all of the endings.
And then I started listening to the stuff he was saying during all of the endings.

... Now I am in desperation to do something life-affirming.

Go to the cargo room and through the red door, then quit the game. Alternatively, obey until the door with ESCAPE shows up, then quit when asked to.
it doesn't matter. At the end you're pressing buttons because the game tells you to, and we love this. Humanity in general loves this, and we're given positive reinforcement by games to push more buttons or push buttons faster.
But really what's better? Run with a ball? Save money? Sex?
All of it seems like just more versions of "chimp with a banana" style enjoyment.

I think the nihilistic ending fucked my joy of life currently.

Tell you what, go to the cargo lift but look for a way to not do what he says when the phone comes up. That, or go down the maintenance elavator after the employee break room.

Oh, do you have any (Don't know if this is the right spelling) Secoyadendrum giganteum trees? We have on growing on the farm, though obviously not as big as they get in their home environment.
Edit: It's spelled Sequoiadendrum Giganteum.

A buddy of mine can not understand why I don't want to drive up to Michigan to see Godzilla in Imax. After working a full shift, and having a (unwanted) full shift tomorrow.

My brother saw it. Said it was awesome, but it took a while to get to the action.

The problem isn't the movie (which I want to see). The issue is that the nearest Imax theatre is an hour away, and I have to be to work at 7 AM (which means I have to get up around 5:30-6:00). I wouldn't be back until well after midnight.

I know. I read your post. I was just commenting on the movie since you had mentioned it.

They're native to this state, though there's not a grove this far south. Nearest one's 2 hours away. A lot of the other trees here depend on fire as well.
