Oh god.
My friend has cancer ;-;

Ah, shit! What kind?
Lung.
My ex-girlfriend had lung cancer. She kicked its cellular ass.
Tell you friend to not worry. Cancer is a disease, not a death sentence - it can be fought, and with good chances of winning.
Eh, tell that to her still smoking even with this happening.
Quitting would be a great start for her.
I perfectly agree, though that's kind of how she chooses to cope with problems...

There are thousands of other ways other than smoking [of any kind of substance], drugs or any such thing which is obviously negative.

Does she know of the repercussions of smoking?

Buy her some snuff. It weirds out many people who try it for the first time, but it has almost no health risks (apart from addiction) and gives just as good a kick! /snufftobaccofanboying

This morning i woke up with a sore throat and a headache (my usual reaction to allergies that are going rampant this time of year) so i woke up and told my parents, my mothers first and almost instant question ¨Is your girlfriend sick?¨
in the way she said it it almost seemed as though she assumed my girlfriend gave me a life threatening illness.
(btw it was just allergies and dehydration)
why would my parents instantly assume my girlfriend got me sick? :(

Dang it, why is posting on a phone so freaking difficult?
Oh well, at least I can spend my day off over here at the library.

I want a dog. So bad. ):

Never had one. I catch myself staring at other people's dogs when out walking because I'm jealous.

Someday I'll get an Irish Wolfhound and it'll be the biggest dog to make up for all the dogs I never got to have. But it's a pipe dream for now and the forseeable future.

We had four dogs at one point. My dad once had eighteen, because he couldn't part with some pedigree puppies he bred.

Incidentally, get an Alsation. Just not 18 of them :P

The big part about any big dog (which IMO are really the only worthwhile ones, lap dogs are just bad cat substitutes) is that they take a lot of space. Adding a big dog to any house can make it seem much smaller extremely fast.

I can appreciate corgis for their herding purposes, and I can see them as a potentially active and energetic indoor pet (though in that case I'd rather prefer a ferret). What I don't think is worthwhile is when people want a dog to sit on their lap/near them while they remain relatively sedentary, for those purposes a cat is suited best.

Wait, what? Don't cats go where they please, and stay away for long periods?

Yes, but when they're with you they can be lazy as fuck and just lay on/near you for hours.
It's perfect.

Apparently my grandmother is about to die. She had a heart attack, is blind in one eye, and is having trouble keeping food down. She's 91 and pretty frail to start with, so chances are she's not going to last much longer, she apparently says she's had enough and is "ready to die".
