-snip-
Sorry to hear that... how much of an impact has it had on your life?
Not really too much, I suppose. I guess it was mostly just a meltdown from a lot of things that have been piling up for a long time.
I'll be ok, thanks, guys.

My great grandmother, who I visited just a few weeks ago, passed away this morning. I'm not too distraught by it, as she was 100 and I didn't know her too well, but I feel like I should be. Mainly, I'm just kind of shocked, but my mom and grandma are a bit torn up.
She did well getting even that far. None of my great grandparents lived even to when I was born, so making it past 100 is pretty good.

My great grandmother is on her way to the triple digits. She's in her mid 90s now.

I only knew one grandparent, and she died this Christmas. But that's because my family has a history of marrying late, and having subsequent children late. My Great Grandmother, according to my dad, was very Victorian in her out look and beliefs, and that's going back nearly a century. My dad was 53 when he had me, too.

But since I keep my kitchen knives purposefully dull after the blood salad incident...
You do know that dull knives cause more accidents than sharp ones since you have to use more force when cutting with them, right? I would never work with dull ones if I can avoid it, and usully end up sharpening all the knives at work if I have time to spare. I even take my own set in any new kitchen I visit for the first time just in case all their knives are dull and they don't have whetstone.

Then you get cities like Paris where you should basically just kill yourself already.

You won’t have to think anymore: it’ll be just like having fun!

My knives aren't dull enough for me to use a lot of force when cutting things, but they are dull enough to not pierce human skin easily. I am okay with having to push slightly to cut those carrots and rump, I am not okay with having to get stitches every time my knife slips. That's what my mom taught me, anyway.

No, dammit! Real men!

The only thing more bad ass than Aragorn/Boromir would be Aragorn/Boromir in full-length, flowing mithril!

Try to say a Hobbit could ever be more manly than that! I dare you!

Trying to explain a play by post RPG to someone who barely even understands video games...
"It's like a group writing project, where everyone writes for a different character in the story."
"So you email the story to everyone or something?"
"N-no... We put it on a site-"
"Oh so you do it over Facebook!"

My wife started the new chemotherapy today.
She's throwing up a lot. Right now, she's laying next to me, trying to get some sleep, but I don't think she'll be able to relax enough to do so.

I think I'm going to take her to the hospital, right now.

That sucks. I remember the chemo was really rough on my mom when she had to do it. It can have some really weird side effects. At one point, her legs started swelling up and she had to start wearing my dad's shoes because her feet wouldn't fit in hers. I've also heard a common side effect is that you lose your sense of taste.

'Nuff said.

I feel you, Mastah. My mom went through the same crap, but she got better at handling the side effects after a while, and I am sure you wife will too. Don't lose faith in her.

This really made me sad. Give her my best, and you have to stay strong too. It's hard, Mastah, but I know you'll both get through it.
