Today, I found out that my wife's cancer is getting worse.
Her body is no longer responding to the chemotherapy, so the doctors are going to put her on the last thing they have left, and hope that it will work.

I don't really feel like doing anything anymore.

Quote from: Chesterton
For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

Yeah, I know it isn't, I'm not saying it is. But the fact that she already has to spend about 14 hours a day, doing nothing but laying in bed, and she's still exhausted after all that, is what's really bothering me.
I'm not expecting her to die or anything, the doctors already said that anyone who had gone without treatment for as long as she did would most likely be dead by now. I know she can get through a lot, but it's what it does to her spirits, that makes me so sad.
She just doesn't have the energy for anything anymore.

(attractive people are attractive, after all)
Weird fetishes would be so practical...
Tempted to sig this.
But my sigs have been with me since day 1. So alas, I cannot.

Although you're forgetting that a person with a weird fetish will pick an attractive person who wields whatever tickles their fancy over an unattractive fancy-tickler wielder.

Never underestimate the effect of your mental state to your health. As long as you two don't give up there are better chances of her recovery. Just keep at it, and try to keep her mood positive. And yours too.

Then you get cities like Paris where you should basically just kill yourself already.

You won’t have to think anymore: it’ll be just like having fun!

Good luck. I hope the last thing they have left works. Moreover, I hope that wherever things go from here, the toll on her lightens. That's one of the worst things about cancer. I feel for you, buddy.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.
