I am sick. Not very sick, or dangerously sick (I have the immune system of a particularly hardy ox, because I refuse to use hand sanitizer, I actively expose myself to lots of people in public spaces so I 'train up' my immune system, and I don't go to the doctor and get antibiotics every time I feel sick, only when I'm legitimately in danger from the illness. I know some people will think I am a fool, but let me put it this way: Where you will get sick and be laid up for two weeks, I will get sick for a single day, half as bad as you were for that week, and be over it by the next day, because I actually use my immune system instead of hiding behind hand sanitizer and antibiotics. :P Also, I NEVER get sick. This is the first time in two years that I've been legitimately considering calling into work. So. Yeah.)

All that doesn't make it any funner to be sick though. :/ My throat hurts, my spine hurts, and I can feel the sickness in my flesh. Blurgh.
I used to be incredibly sickly when I was four, but nowadays I haven't been sick for over a year now. My mom said I shouldn't talk about that though since it's bad JuJu or whatever.

And here's the funny part - not sharing makes sure noone cares because it's impossible to care about what you don't know about.

@Shakerag - when I wrote that it was supposed to invoke more of a "so just start posting because we will care" feeling when I wrote it rather than the heal of bitter it feels like on reread. Sorry about that.

Put seriously, when you want to tell us something, tell us.
I knew what you meant.

I tried to buy Minecraft today, but the website is a recursive loop between logging into my account and randomly being thrown to the account settings.

It's okay, the game is a recursive loop between destroying blocks and placing them.

DF will beat it unconditionally anyway once you can mine as an adventurer anyway.

I mean, you can mod in creepers by that point, there are already zombies and skeletons, giant spiders already exist, dragons are still there, Endermen... erm, moddable, I guess, and... uh, I think that's about it.

Oh, yeah, the nether dudes should be puttable-into-dwarf-fort pretty easily anyway, taking into account material temperature tags.

Now I have this image of you going around licking lepers as Challenge Mode for your immune system.

... y'know, things being as they are, it's not entirely impossible Hans did at one point, and just can't remember it.

Except for the part where they are two entirely different games with entirely different design, language, design, graphics, etc. Also, DF isn't (and will probably never be) multiplayer.

I think he's saying you can get all of the Minecraft experience and more when DF is developed. Although you're right, I really like the multiplayer component of Minecraft.

And putting what DF is into Minecraft is just more impossible than putting what makes Minecraft good into DF. Unfortunately.

You're comparing the taste of high-quality dark chocolate with a deliciously baked steak, they're just different. (Not that I'd call vanilla minecraft more than a decent game, but that's irrelevant.)

Yeah I meant modded Minecraft vs. vanilla DF in complexity. I don't think you can look at vanilla MC as anything more than Easy Mode from which you're supposed to mod outward.

Fair point.

And putting what DF is into Minecraft is just more impossible than putting what makes Minecraft good into DF. Unfortunately.

He has the idea I was going for, though.

Also, Minecraft was supposed to be a DF clone. The DF-clonership failed, but Minecraft became a game of its own.

Anyway, none can forget that in minecraft, there are four kinds of wood. In dwarf fortress, there are at least four times that.

Also, mods just make minecraft a different game. Not to mention most of them either embrace the blockiness in a cruddy way or embrace it so far that when they try to make round things, instead of a box like the character's head they make a model with a bunch of little points in a crude sphere imitation.

Still, multiplayer minecraft is cool... except I can't find another decent server

I think in any game with Minecraft's style of PVP and environmental modification, you need to expect that stuff you do isn't permanent. Just coast along and enjoy. Besides, they have those Ender Chests where you can store your best stuff safely - as long as you can find an Ender Chest.

The only thing I don't like about it is that people can use client mods to see through the ground and gain an undeserved advantage. I could do the same thing, but then nobody is playing the game in a decent way - just running around gathering diamonds or whatever. It would be nice if the server could somehow control that kind of thing.

Welp.

My sister is being all suicidal downstairs.
My parents are the ones trying to talk her down now, I think it's clear I've done all I can.
Nothing to do but wait... :/
