Must've been a bad psychologist.
Well, the thing is that it's the same one that my wife goes too, and she says that they're a great psychologist.
So I don't know why my wife always seems so happy to talk to them, and I just feel so..
Bleugh.

Cheese, we all care about you here, though. Just think of how many people care, even if you haven't met them face to face.
And yes, psychologist visits can be like that. Personal experience agrees with you.
I know, and thanks.
They put me on a new medicine, and I just took it, so I guess now I'll see if at least that will help, once it kicks in.

It just ticks me off because the whole time it felt like they weren't listening to a single thing I said, I even had to repeat myself on things I had just said seconds before, and they couldn't even remember the questions that they asked.
They just seemed so completely uninterested and uncaring.

Psychologists aren't one-size-fits-all.

Try looking around for some others.

I am having a really hard day today.

I also feel incredibly guilty for my forum game being closed, and for having not applied to any jobs yet despite being unemployed for two months.  And for doing this stuff instead of going straight to grad school.

It's okay to take your time to make decisions.

Ninjacheese: Hope you rest well and that the medicine does what it's supposed to do.

Also, I wouldn't be surprised if a new medicine, that messes (goodly or badly) with your head, right before sleep, leads to... interesting dreams. Have fun?

I hope so/hope not.

Last night I had two nightmares, one where my dad was trying to kill me, and another in a zombie apocalypse.
So dreams are not good to me right now.

That isn't how dreams necessarily work. :/

I sat down and watch the movie version of The Time Traveller's Wife. I knew going into it that it wasn't going to live up to the book as I knew fellow fans of the book who didn't like the movie at all. I kind of enjoyed the movie itself. This here is one layer of my sad, because it is a bit of a tear jerker, and I am a sucker for a Hollywood tear jerker. It got me invested enough to give me a sad. Okay, cool.

Looking back, however, I just ... couldn't enjoy it like the book. Full disclosure: I love the character Henry from the book. Like, I love him an embarrassing amount. I would read a book that was nothing but Henry talking to people and otherwise getting into his mischief for 1,000 pages, and I would buy two copies. The movie just doesn't capture that Henry at all. I think it manages to do justice to Claire's feelings and overall plot. I don't really hate Claire, but I'm rather ambivalent about her. Given that the whole point of what the author intended with the book was supposed to be centred around her, I think this is a good thing. And really, I still managed to invest myself in the movie despite this blatant change to my very favorite thing. But really. Henry.

Also, the book is a pretty slow burner which is another thing I really enjoyed about it, and the movie just blazed through so much of it. I realize that trying to film a slow burner of this would have been Hollywood anathema, but ... yes.

It was basically a movie about Generic Leading Man/Claire and their love's rise and fall. And I was mostly okay with that I guess. But it wasn't really Henry/Claire. And that's the bigger sad for me. :/

I really need to get out of my fantasy rut and read something else. I write fantasy, and I should read fantasy, but I haven't read non-fantasy since like ... 2011? Yeah, that's a rut.

Does sci-fi count?

What if it's -weird- sci-fi? Anathem is pretty good.

Yeah. Not talking about what you feel is a bad way to go. I once hid a lot of thoughts and feelings away for years at a time, and the only way I can describe what happened is that they poisoned me. I got really depressed and angry, and essentially stopped functioning IRL for a while. Let it out, and the sooner you let it out the better you'll feel.

Could be worse.  You could want to complain about being regularly abused but decide not to because no one will care.

And here's the funny part - not sharing makes sure noone cares because it's impossible to care about what you don't know about.
