Spam is good. Very good. I never quite understood why people dislike it so much.

One of my favorite foods growing up was a spam and cheese sandwich, grilled and buttered on a skillet. Pretty much grilled cheese + spam.

*raises finger* I... think it might be because of differing levels of regional quality or something?

I remember one of the (last) times I ate spam, it crunched. Because there were bits of bone in it. Which was, like. All of my nope, condensed in to one of those singular moments of "Yeah, I'm spitting this out now. And... the rest of it. To the cats."

And then the cats all die of spam poisoning.

E: Okay, the dead cats didn't happen. Also, same thing is the reason I don't touch Vienna sausage anymore, haha! Bone slivers belong not in skooshy food.

Well, since this is the sad thread and we are talking about Bacon, I recently found out I have gout and now pretty much have to cut ALL THE MEATS out of my diet (Except chicken, thank god xD)

That seems a bit extreme. While it is usually advisable to reduce the amounts of meats and some other foods, it is very rare for doctors to advocate removing them completely unless they have a preexisting agenda. Gout is a disease of excess, after all.

Of course, I may be a bit bitter. My asthma went undiagnosed for years because the family doctor insisted that my symptoms were caused by caffeine, and my dad was denied antibiotics because the attending doctor at the ER was adamant that his symptoms (a seizure caused by a badly infected tooth) were a marijuana-induced delusion.

I finally sat down and started doing the practice test today... some of these problems are really frigging hard... I mean jeeze, most of these problems require like... three or four different complicated processes to do.

If the real test tomorrow is anything like this I don't see how I'd ever complete it on time.

Gout, because of the similar term Grout, always made me imagine the persons joints are filled with... white crumbly plaster. >_>

PROBABLY NOT AN ACTUAL THING, outside of the SCP Foundation...

One of my friends went in for some sort of dental procedure when he was kid and had the anesthetic improperly applied.  Then his dentist incorrectly interpreted his "I'm in pain" reactions as a reaction to having a bunch of stuff stuck in his mouth.  Or something.  It was apparently the most painful thing he's experienced in his entire life.

Yeah man, those drills fucking suck when the novacaine hasn't kicked in right. I've become one of those people where it's slow on the uptake of the 'caine and I had a cavity start to be filled while I was't completely numb yet. Felt like I was being stabbed with ice the hardness of steel in an open wound.

I'm more cutting all of them except chicken out for now as it has gotten so bad it is at the point of a new gout attack every 3 weeks, which is ridiculous. I'm going to wait until I'm a least a month into no attacks before I start putting any red (And I have recently read that gamey meats are bad too) meats back into my diet, I am also cutting back on sugar. Man the pain sucks, but its the fear of permanant damage if not dealt with in a timely manner that concenrs me. Also, my doctor sucks, he is basically just my drug dealer, in that, I go in, say I have this and this, he writes a prescription and kicks me out. I can't discuss anything with him >.>

I really, really need to learn self-control. Going on alternating creation and consumption binges is not healthy - I wind up with stretches of boredom when I'm burnt out on being creative but have nothing to read/watch/etc, alternating with stretches of guilt for not accomplishing anything and generally being a useless piece of shit.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

In high school chemistry, we did a test on salt contents in food.

Spam was little else. Our chemistry teacher literally did a double-take, asked us to test again, and did a double-take again.

Salt + sugar will add a palatable flavor to pretty much anything. It's the crutch on which processed food companies stand. Add some basic flavoring to nudge the taste in the direction you want it to go, then salt and sugar until it tastes good. Spam itself is really just salt, sugar, starch, pork, and ham.
