And who cares about all the technicalities? It's not about the way he did it, it's the damage he inflicted! And what the hell kind of evidence do you need to prove rape? It's not murder or robbery, you can't point out what's missing.

Yeah, he's a banned spammer. Normally we'd delete this thread too, but people were having too much fun with it by the time we got here.

Welp, that's just about a perfect articulation of any thought approaching rational that I can have on this topic, so I'm going to spend the rest of this post talking about feelings.

Vector. I can't adequately express the feelings reading this causes me, which tells me a little bit about how you, the person who had to experience this, must feel. That is, if I can't express the mess of sadness and anger and whatever else is in there in words, the words you've said are pretty unlikely to adequately convey the extent of your pain, even accounting for your superior language skillz. It's unlikely that I'll ever be able to truthfully say, "I understand". But I can say, "I care". I hope your world gets better, because you sure as shit deserve it.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Don't have much to say that hasn't already been said.  I hope you find whatever support you need to feel better, Vector.  You're strong and you have a lot of people who believe in you.

I didn't realize that the end date of my programming class was two days ago, so I got a C as my final grade due to incomplete assignments.

Was listening to adhesive wombat and the "Just a bit of Skyrim" song came on. It reminds me so much of the Morrowind music with added feels put in it. And the Morrowind music evokes such intense feelings of nostalgia and childhood in me. And it was just so long ago. Damn, it makes me feel like I am getting old. It also reminds me that I have been gaming for so long.

Feeling really emotionally tired and depressed.

I'm also really worried about the state of my psyche... I've been feeling very defensive, and feeling extremely paranoid about the people around me. Some of it is stuff I know is especially irrational. Like I find myself worried that other people are trying to engage in some form of intricate manipulation, or they're lying to me, or they're about to engage in some kind of persecution/victimization of one variety or another.

In the midst of moving today and for the next week or so. This isn't the first time I've moved, but I think this is the first time I've gone this deeply into my own past. I'm digging into the depths of my and my brother's childhood, sneezing in the dust clouds of a lifetime. School notebooks going back to early highschool, full of doodles, oddly synched up in their themes to content of the lesson. Signs and portents of who are today in every line. Treasured texts, that opened the door to the world of the mind for us, from the Hardy Boys to the heights of fantasy, to books of science and car repair and philosophy. RPG modules and books, some in pieces, like scattered dreams or broken archeological relics that will never tell the whole story or its meaning. Half-formed, maddeningly scribbled home-brewed campaigns, most of which never left the ground. Whole towns of PCs and NPCs written up and stuffed into binders, ideas that were birthed incomplete. Who they were or might have been can't be told from the numbers and the names alone. Lovingly-crafted illustrations of the heroes of old, our heroes, whose names we still invoke with reverence today.

And of course, a solid box full of well-meaning but poorly executed gifts over the years. My German relatives must have given me about 4 books large photo books over the years, all cleaving to the "Das Ist Hamburg" theme.

Still I can't help feeling a little twinge of sadness as I toss things into the garbage, though they are completely useless. It's not that I'm a pack rat. I just have a habit of making totems out of things. And it's weird, to look back over who we were and are today....and to not feel the things these people felt, in a sense to not know them anymore. I suppose a lot of people transition to being an adult with the same feelings and get over it. But I don't really want to. Nostalgia is a wound whose pain never goes away, and sometimes I feel like life is trying to take my dreams of a golden, simpler time from my unwilling hands. I want to get back to how I used to feel, when the world was a place full of magic that was stronger than pain, worry and loss. To when I smiled more than I frowned, celebrated more than I hated.

And yet I know I'll be doing this again, many more times over my life.

And Vector, I'm sorry to hear about your troubles. You'll get through it though, you're strong.

-snip-

Maybe keep one or two, keep a niche in your living space for them? I know I plan on doing that.

And Vector, I honestly can't think of words. That's horrible. I could come up with a few support hotline numbers if you think they'd help. They'd be much better at helping you than likely any of us here on the forums, but it sounds like a resounding rally of support here. I hope this feels like a safe space for you.

Oh I'm keeping a lot. Really my metric for whether not to keep it is if it's so destroyed it will make me feel bad by looking at it. I "rediscovered" quite a bit doing this as well, just nothing that makes me feel more happy than it does sad.

Whenever I look at my past self, I shudder with horror and then thank God for letting me grow out of it. Honestly, last year when I met a guy that resembled me five years ago, I broke his jaw out of sheer hatred. And because he was assaulting me, so the policemen were cool.

I've already been in contact with RAINN, and am seeing a counselor for these very issues.  Thank you, though.

And to everyone else, as well.
