You know when Windows says it's updating and you really shouldn't turn off your ocmputer?

Well, turns out you really shouldn't turn turn off your computer when it's doing that :<

That's how my step-dad's old laptop became defunct. It could never boot up properly again after someone unplugged it while it was installing an update.

Thinking back to all the times I've done that and wondering how lucky I must have been.

When my laptop is updating I treat it how a caveman might treat a robot that descended from space (which is to say I really want to beat the shit out of it with a club but I am too much in awe and fear).

As if the thing I had wasn't bad enough with a nose running like a faucet, a sore throat, and a sinus headache, now I'm also developing a cough. BRB, dying of pneumonia.

I could probably feel worse, but it's still really inconvenient and it's completely murdering my motivation to do anything. Plus I don't know how well I'm going to sleep if I'm constantly coughing now too.

Been learning about sports in Japan.

I.e. Bo-taoshi, which is capture the flag.
75 students to a team, one team has a pole which they must defend, the other team must topple it.
Generally involves massive scrumming.

Kibasen, which is piggyback fighting- team of three makes a 'horse' which a fourth rider sits on.
Every rider is wearing a headband, and the key of the game is to steal it or have their rider touch the ground.
They have a free-for-all with many other riders in order to decide the winner. Like an all-people demolition derby.

And meanwhile back in school we had... tug of war.

Yeah, he's a banned spammer. Normally we'd delete this thread too, but people were having too much fun with it by the time we got here.

Go the third way, become Linux, destroyer of operating systems.

Otherwise, d'you have the install disk that came with your computer? Can you get a Windows disk from a friend? Y'might be able to run a repair through that.
Luckily, this happened the day before my new computer (parts) arrived :P.

My sleep schedule is screwy.

Stupid school-break, letting me stay up for far longer than is reasonable.

Protip everyone: If you ever drink a load of water for thirst reasons, do not try to burp immediately afterwards, no matter how much it feels like you should. That's water, not air. You will end up forcing the water back out and choking like an idiot.
