Maybe I'm taking things too seriously, but it seems good to me ya'll are separated by distance, else I'd be afraid you'd create an actual lynch mob.

For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

Not really.  It was my second ex... I really just wish he'd apologize.

So, does your mother react like that because she believes that there is no such thing as rape in relationships? Or did she disapprove of you being in a relationship in the first place (you mentioned your family being a bit conservative in that regard IIRC)?

Would there have been another reaction if you had been raped by a complete stranger?

Something other than "what a cad?"  Proooooobably.

It seems to me when rape happens, there are three reactions, and two of them stem from denial.
1: Oh, they would never do that, you must be lying. (Taken to an extreme case with an ex of mine, who was raped by his brother, and the entire family basically excommunicated him because how dare you say that about your own brother)
2: You were obviously asking for it, you slut.  (As seen with Vector's situation)
3: That's horrible! How could anyone do such a thing? (A correct, rational response, although some people seem to be confused as to what rape actually entails)

Nevermind.  I proposed the idea to Hiro.  He watched me play Brutal Doom for about 10 seconds and then "... nah."  Total crash and burn.  Very disappointed.

Don't worry, he'll come around. They all come around in time. Nobody can resist the brutality forever.

...I'd best assume she had a bad experience to be...like that.
*hugs Vector*
Things are skewed when bad experiences happen..and I don't think she completely understands. Or..fails to speak correctly. And the generalization.. :S

I do think he probably would if I could get him to just try it.

I am actually very sad about what happened earlier in the buddylist discussion thread earlier between glyph and myself.  I never wanted to make anyone angry. Still don't.

It is true, this kind of thing happens more often than it should for me. I seriously do believe that I may have asperger's syndrome or something. (On the adult assay test, I score higher than 40, whish suggests "profoundly impacted.", but a self-assesment is not grounds for diagnosis. I honestly don't know, but there clearly is a problem.)

Really, it never was my intention to cause that much trouble. People asked questions, and I answered them.. and things went to hell. This happens all to frequently for me. I am a difficult person to like-- sometimes more difficlt than others.

I don't know what to say, but I am sorry.

I am sad this happened today.

I was stunned when I read your earlier post.  You deserve better treatment than that.  I hope she becomes more sympathetic.

More stunned here when I read it again. :X

Out of context, it feels worse. Much worse that I can't see how such a conclusion happened so I go out of the way to get a...different origin. But..I am somehow optimistic that Vector'd set it right, or rationalize the best outcome..for both sides.
