I wouldn't mind playing a third-person/first-person X-Com game, if it was otherwise the same as an actual X-Com game. Research, intercepting, etc. Dunno how you'd balance the whole "Anyone can die" with playing a singular person though.

It's too bad that Bureau crap had to come along and bring with it all the modern-game baggage, linear and restrictive gameplay, and ruin the idea for at least another 5 years.

Vec, if you need to vent, even if it's just over pm, I'm willing to toss my ear in the ring, too. Even if most of us will never know one another in person, this is still our group, and I, for one, am proud to be in the same group as you. We're here for you.

On a different note, I've just been reading horror stories from Black Friday.

That article, right there, proves humanity as a whole is completely insane.

I have issues channeling it properly to do that method. I end up flooding the fortress with magma.

I've never heard of that kind of capitalistic hysteria anywhere but America, I have to say. It's bizarre how much people must change form their ordinary selves. How can it cause such cognitive dissonance?

It should be noted that there are generally protests against Black Friday every year as well.

And it's also a fairly new, manufactured phenomenon.

Black Friday is why my family do their shopping before Black Friday.

I think that's one thing me and my parents can agree on :P

Here's my general Black friday checklist:
1) Wake up
2) Go to online versions of stores
3) Buy desired objects for virtually the same discounts as if I had woken up really early and gone and bought them myself

Seriously, not needing to deal with the craziness is worth waiting 1-2 days for shipping (plus online stores don't usually sell out of what you want; physical stores do).

Keep in mind, you're also bound to see a lot of Not Always Right types of stories. A few will be true, but many will be people spinning tales that sound impressive because we're so conditioned to see Black Friday riots as commonplace that these stories will be plausible.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

The way me and wife do Black Friday is by waiting until later in the day, when all the pychos have gone through.
Yeah, they've taken a lot of the stuff so we just go through what is left, but we never really go there for the big name items, anyway.

But our main day of saving is about a week or two after Christmas, when everything is on 75% off.
We found some chocolate that was $1 at Christmas, so it was only 25(where the frick is my cents sign on my keyboard?).
So we bought every single one of them they had left, which was like 20 or so little bags.
That was last year, and we still have some.

Make sure to put in steel toes, as well.

While you're at it making some butt-kicking boots, add some spurs.
