Lets also not have a repeat of the anti-feminism shadow argument that keeps lurking around, and refusing to die. That said:
a) You appear to be overly negative in regards to perception of humans in general. In a situation like that, it's understandable, doubly so because I've been going through feeling like this, but it still skewers your perception. You are depressive, actually, you said it yourself that you cannot sleep, cannot focus, need to cry... And again, I'm not theorizing, I've been there, and I can recognize it when I see it.
A) PNX didn't say anything about Sappho feeling that way because of autisum. That was Owlbread, unless you're talking about another instance? Moreover, blaming Autism/Depression/her psychology for the way she feels IS blaming Sappho. And it's ignoring the obvious fact that the real problem is that these guys are being disrespectful and making inappropriate advances, and completely ignoring the signs Sappho is giving them to step the fuck off. It's their fault, yet clearly "it is just her Depression/Autism that's making her imagine things." Seriously? That's a step away from "She might be saying no, but she probably really wants it."
b) You need to learn how to react in a dangerous situation - not just to defend yourself, how to avoid a problem that calls for self-defense in the first place. Even a big strong man cannot breathe through a collapsed windpipe or run with a broken leg, or be immune to macing.
B) Learning to defend herself physically is a good idea, but it's not her responsibility to resolve the situation. Again, it's the responsibility of the guys making the advances to stop. She should not have to train and prepare to collapse someone's windpipe, to earn the right to wear what she'd like to, and have her saying "No" be taken seriously.
c) First, calm down, I'm not saying today, wait a week, a month if you need to, and re-read the last part of your first post. Do you honestly think that every single person with a Y chromosome amongst the couple of millions of people inhabiting Prague is a machiavellian Yandere?
C) This is not Y-Chromosome-Hating "Female Hysterics". Why are you trying to tell her that she has to calm down, and implying that "She must hate every man in Prague!" like this was all just her fault or false perception? Her reaction here is a very sensible response to being the target of skeevy assholes who don't respect her or her personal space. She doesn't need to "Calm down". She's in the right, not the people doing things to her.
Lolrandom relation to feminism appears!
a) Do you even try to understand my point, or are you arguing with a pre-defined opponent that is only coincidentally projected onto me? The first sentence of your post implies otherwise.
Pnx didn't claim that Sappho was only feeling that way, because etc., he was doing the exact same thing you are doing, namely accusing Owlbread of arguing that. Falsely.
blaming Autism/Depression/her psychology for the way she feels IS blaming SapphoYes, her psychology is to blame for the way she feels, the same way as your psychology is to blame for the way you feel, or mine for the way I feel. Tautologically. And it would take an amount of advanced sophism indistinguishable from magic to convince me that treating every single man as a rapist is rational. It also begs the question why the double standard.
It's their fault, yet clearly "it is just her Depression/Autism that's making her imagine things." Seriously? That's a step away from "She might be saying no, but she probably really wants it."Sorry to interrupt your heated discussion with that strawman, but I really need to tell you something.
B) Learning to defend herself physically is a good idea, but it's not her responsibility to resolve the situation. Again, it's the responsibility of the guys making the advances to stop. She should not have to train and prepare to collapse someone's windpipe, to earn the right to wear what she'd like to, and have her saying "No" be taken seriously.Yes, no person should ever be, or be in danger of being raped. No person should get sick and fucking die either, but it still happens and as of yet we have no means of treating every single illness. If I was to restate that part of your post as:
B) Taking medicine is a good idea, but it's not her responsibility to resolve the situation. She should not have to get medical attention to avoid dying.it becomes obvious that there is no disagreement on that. It shouldn't happen but it does, and the only thing any person can do about it is take precautions.
Also, since apparently Sappho is receiving unwanted advances regardless of whether she is wearing 'feminine' clothes or baggy clothes, where did the
'to earn the right to wear what she'd like to' come from?
C) This is not Y-Chromosome-Hating "Female Hysterics". Why are you trying to tell her that she has to calm down, and implying that "She must hate every man in Prague!" like this was all just her fault or false perception? Her reaction here is a very sensible response to being the target of skeevy assholes who don't respect her or her personal space. She doesn't need to "Calm down". 'the world is full of very large, very strong men who think your ass is just the hottest thing they've ever seen', 'It's that so many men feel that it's my responsibility to be attractive to him. He has the right to tell me to smile, or that I'd be so much prettier if I wore tighter clothes.'.
First off, equating what I'm saying with dismissing Sappho's emotions as 'Female Hysterics' is a hell of an underhanded trick. Even if I said it is hysterics, which it isn't, it wouldn't be exclusive to women. If you, you know, read the post instead of skimming through and getting offended, you'd notice I said I felt like that in the past several times.
Second, not a single person who is not a complete, self-aware, card-carrying douchebag thinks that it is anyone's responsibility to be attractive to him. Do you think you are some hyper-moral Ubermensch because treating a person like that is abhorrent to you, unlike those evil, evil lowly humans who don't think it's wrong? I'm fairly cynical, but even then I wouldn't say that people on average have no problem with the concept of owning another human. So, the other likely explanation is that Sappho misinterprets some of these men's actions.
And anticipating the response, I'm not saying that she's deluded and not a single creepy fuckbag who couldn't get a hint ever gave her unwanted attention, I'm saying that not everyone who asks you for a light wants to burn down your house.
She's in the right, not the people doing things to her.Yes, people who commit sexual harrasment are guilty of sexual harrasment, and not their victims. DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUH. I'm sorry for short-changing you, the situation calls for a much, much longer DUUUUH, but I'm unwilling to provide that here. I can PM you it if you want.
