Stop trying to get into an American university, for one. Try a Canadian one, they're cheaper and you get the same education. Really, there's no point in going to any of the three types of American universities. The prestigous you go to just for the name, you don't learn jack shit. The public ones are more expensive than Canada's and for not much better learning, if at all better. And the private ones... Well... *cough* Just no.

Besides, Canada could use smart people! And you're a smart cookie. :>

Edeet: Oh god I sound like Owlbread is about Scotland. @_@

I actually started doing that for a specific reason. If you read my early posts they aren't at all like that. I decided a year or two ago that I wanted to raise the profile of my country as a country in online communities and educate people, so I decided I'd talk about it a lot in that way. It's worked I think. There's nothing to be ashamed of about it though, Canada is an interesting place that deserves greater attention and if you advertise it then you're just doing your bit.

All this said, if we vote no next year I will probably never talk about Scotland again.

people don't know that scotland is a country

Oy indeed. Three years ago that was the kind of stuff I kept seeing everywhere and I just had to do something. I think it did my psyche good too somehow.

So, my parents are the King and Queen of hyperbole. Yes, I know that's an exaggeration; it's apparently genetic.

But we were waiting for our food for around 30 minutes in an IHOP. That's bad, but it was Game Day, to be entirely fair to the restaurant staff. My parents got upset, and started talking about it.
And when one of them talks about anything, they tend to exaggerate it. The other then talks about it again, and exaggerates off of the previous exaggeration. It's like some sort of exponential criticism.
30 minutes "became" 45, then an hour. They got upset with the waiter, who "probably spat in the food". The butter had "ice crystals". The melted butter he brought out to try to make it up to my mother was "disgusting". The manager was "a frazzled old woman" and "had already made up her mind [we were wrong]".

My mom snapped at the waiter flung butter onto the table. My dad was really intense to the hostess when he paid the bill, though she hadn't done anything. The poor girl just kept apologizing.
And then they got mad at the college students who were eating there. They have every right to be upset, mind you, but they shouldn't direct that at the restaurant. I felt really bad for the poor waiter, who received "NO TIP".

On the bright side, I think I've figured out the exact reason why I don't like to do things with them very often.

I think I injured my throat today. Screaming in rage and frustration as you try to back into a parking spot for nearly an hour will do that, I guess.

Now I can barely talk. Go me :l

Yeah, I really wanted to apologize to the guy. His boss had apparently given him an extra table when even more college kids came in, despite his protests.
I'm pretty sure my parents don't really understand how difficult and stressful food service can be. At least, I know my mom doesn't. She almost always finds some fault of the server's, and complains about it to us. My dad just backs her up, regardless.

Lou Reed died today.

Possibly a fitting tribute?

Study session was a total bust. Apart from the person hosting I wound up being the only person showing up, and I didn't really get much work done. The internet is also misbehaving... again.

I feel really frustrated and depressed right now.
