I don't value many material things, so I don't really get jealous that often.
Or at all.

Seriously, being jealous about someone's possessions seems kind of weird to me. Being jealous for other reasons, though...

I don't get that as well. Maybe my jealousy gland is damaged or something.

You should probably get that looked at. Next time you see your doctor, ask about getting an Envyoscopy.

Day 4:
The assault continues. I feel battered and weary.
Effect of medication on cold symptoms has been... minimal.
I can only hope this comes to an end soon.

Unless I've had a sinus infection on and off for 6 years, which never changes location, rises and falls in intensity every day, causes blood vessels to pinch my optic nerve, and makes skin and tissue around my eye socket inflamed, (none of which are things sinus infections normally do, to my knowledge) it's something else.

Huh? How do you know that?

So, red or swollen or itchy or... well, what, specifically?

I've only brought it up during a visit to an optomotrist, and at the last general physical I was able to afford. Physician was highly concerned about what he saw when looking into the back of my eye, and referred me to a Neurologist.

Specifically, he saw inflammation of the blood vessels around the optic nerve. As for other specifics, my skin is very slightly swollen and hot to the touch in a rough triangle, from above the eyebrow to the back of the ear to the cheekbone. Eye is bloodshot, as well as light- and pressure-sensitive. Pain is sufficient to make thinking and focusing difficult, akin to an icepick coming in through the frontal bone above the eyebrow, through the orbital socket, and back to somewhere behind the right ear (some overlap with the pain of a sinus/ear infection, with other parts different). I suffered a fracture of the skull in roughly the same location when I was a kid, which could possibly be related.

Pain does not respond to pain killers, but does respond to dilation of blood vessels and reduced blood-pressure. When aggravated, it surges and fades every day for weeks at a time. It's been mild but persistent for the last 2 years, and intermittent for about 6. Most days it's mild enough that I can ignore it, but it seems to become aggravated on days when I skip meals, since I've taken to eating 1-2 meals in a day.

That's about all the specifics I've got.

Since it responds to blood pressure and vasodilation, no wonder it responds to meal skipping, since when the blood sugar levels drop, both of those change.

I suspect the trauma might have gotten you a minor hematoma. It would explain the swelling, redness, headache, and slight movement of the pain. Basically, some of the dead blood cells and cell breakdown junk remains lodged somewhere in your head. Since they can move around with gravity, so does the pain.

Note that jealousy and envy are different things.

I don't really see the point of jealousy in any form.

Except when someone else HAS SHERBERT AND THEY WON'T FUCKING SHARE IT THAT DAMN GREEDY BASTARD. Then I am slightly jealous/envious/whatever.

That is envy :P

And yeah... I don't understand jealousy, either.  It's lives suspended in contradiction between two opposite emotions - selfishness and love.  To me, it indicates that the love in question is more akin to that for a favorite possession than for an autonomous human being.

Jealousy, hmm, let me think. Perhaps, they are worried about someone stealing them. This implies they find it likely that someone wouldreadily  leave them or could be taken. This implies suspicion, paranoia, and/or low self-esteem and general poor opinion of yourself and/or others.

Think about a massively conceited guy: He can trust her, because how could anyone possibly not want him? Obviously. Unless he's suspicious and thinks they might have some scheme, his girlfriend or someone else. OR BOTH.

Or, according to google
Quote
jeal·ous ˈjeləs/
adjective 1. feeling or showing envy of someone or their achievements and advantages.
Quote
en·vy ˈenvē/
noun 1. a feeling of discontented or resentful longing aroused by someone else's possessions, qualities, or luck.
Actually I don't know, that's pretty straight-forward.
