So one of my friends committed suicide and another has atleast attempted it. Don't know if she succeeded or not yet.

Well, that sucks. That really sucks. If there was a word to properly and better express how much that sucks, I'd use it. Instead, I'll just say that sucks hippopotamongously.

Sorry, man.

No, she really is.  Part of the problem is that I pretty much didn't talk between the ages of 7 and 19, so there's all kinds of behaviors she's gotten used to that are now suddenly Big Fight Starters or Just Shitty Things to Do, which she hadn't expected because she didn't get any feedback for ages.

As far as ME4 goes, they're thinking about doing a PI on the Citadel thing or maybe doing a spinoff series with Garrus or some other similarly active character.  What they've said, basically, is that they want to use the same universe with a completely different style of game, and it certainly won't be called ME4 but it will be set in that world at some point in the timeline, whether before or after.

So it's your fault and she's just misunderstood? Vector, that's abuse logic 101.

I'm the queen of abuse logic, thanks to my long and fertile history of being abused!

But no, that's actually not what I'm saying.  I'm not saying it's my fault; she had an extremely abusive childhood where she got used to a particular norm of behavior, which she cut out but she didn't actually know that she had more distance to go, having gone a very, very long way from the convention she had learned already--and then I shut down and stopped communicating with her, so she had no idea she was doing anything wrong.  She had an obligation to be doing something else, but she didn't know to.  She's actually gotten much, much better since last summer, when we finally started really talking to each other.

I'm not saying she was doing the right thing, and I'm not making excuses for her.  She isn't misunderstood, she's uninformed, partially by her own doing, and yesterday was the worst day we've had in a really long time, since she decided to go full-on suspicious and insane troll logic (hasn't happened for quite a while; like, four years).

Good people have bad days and do dishonorable things.  What you object to, I guess, is that I'm still willing to call her good despite viewing the full spectrum of her character; but there's not a person I've ever met who was all good decisions all the time.

I... think there might be some overreaction or overanalysis going on here. Consider the possibility of selection bias. Parents often cause problems, and that's just a consequence of being human. I'm not invested enough to go dig up references, but I'm pretty confident that Vector's also posted about her mother in the Happy Thread.

Ninja-related edit: It keeps happening! Obviously, this post is now less relevant, but I kinda don't want it to go to waste.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

What I object to is that between this post and that one you've hit practically every red flag I've ever been taught concerning emotionally abusive relationships.

While I can't convince you of anything, would you accept someone who acts like she does but isn't your blood?

Yup.  My friend J., who is training to become a minister, has one of these blowups every month.

EDIT: You know another trait of serial abusers?  Separation of the victim from friends and family, often by saying "he or she isn't good for you."  I'm not saying anything against you, MSH.  I think you're a good person.  What I'm trying to say is that the distance between "abuser" and "not abuser" can be difficult to articulate sometimes and that if you take the list of red flags literally, usually you'll end up in "EVERYONE IS AN ABUSER" land.  My mom is fine.  She loves me and consistently shows that love.  We just need to work on her arguing skills a little more, since she's really come quite a long way with me in the past bit--we've developed trust that had been completely shattered over the distance of my childhood.

So give me a little credit here.  I've been abused enough to know what that looks like, and this isn't it.

So basically running offshoot of C-Sec ignoring anything going on outside with some slip of news with Shepard's campaign. If i get to work with Kolyat then im good to go.
