Vector, we are going to watch some quality television at some point. This has to happen, even if only over some sort of chat thing. Unless you are not up for that. But it sounds to me like you have taste in entertainment! So I will hope.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

[blush] Thank you both very much. Gotta be honest, I'm quite sad about this, and a lil angry though I'm not focused with it, but overwhelmingly just sad. It's a puzzle I can't solve and the more effort I put into it, the more exhausted I become.
For what it's worth, this seems peculiar (and tragic) to me too. If he just never liked or tolerated you at all ever there'd be that, but changing his mind like that is weird.

Feeling jealous/threatened after all would be my only guess.

Only one solution: another Vector stream.

Hmm, well... I was thinking about rebooting it...

I'm really beginning to dislike this whole having a crush thing.

The girl I'm interested has a number of orbiters and guyfriends that follow her around and such. Not that I'm any better, but it sure puts a damper on the hopes that you'll get closer to someone when there's a ton of people who are stronger, wealthier, better looking, and - More importantly - Who she's more comfortable around.

One of the dudes has been kind of playing wing man in a weird way. He's obviously Mr Alpha of the group, but he invites me over to chat or hang out when she's around, and I'm not sure how to take that. Even stranger, he (And others) frequently talk to her in a blunt, "I'm attracted to you" way. I'm not sure if this is an attempt at flattery by proclaiming admiration in front of a group, if he's just trying to show her that he's a friendly dude willing to accept even (apparently) shy geeks, or both.

So not only do I have to traverse the unknown territory of courtship with a girl who I can barely force myself to talk to because I'm so anxious, I have to figure out how to integrate myself into a strange jock culture that's mindbogglingly friendly on the surface.

To top it off, this whole deal is totally out of character for me. I never thought I'd meet a girl I'd instantly have a crush on, and am very comfortable talking with most women in a variety of settings. I always figured I'd meet a girl, become her friend, and eventually things would progress beyond that naturally. That's certainly what I want to happen, even here, but I can't seem to focus on anything other than the fact that I'm very attracted to this girl when I talk about her or think about her.

I'm starting to question whether or not being interested in her is even healthy or worth it. The people she hangs out with obviously have everything she could want, I can't even have a conversation with her for more than five minutes, and I don't even know her well enough to know if we're compatible.

But damn if I can't help myself.

Let's see, it's 8 right now... I got woken up at 6, I only got to sleep at around 3, and I have to be up by 10...

Ahh the dark arithmetic of sleep. I hate you insomnia.

If this is the reason why Dude Guy the Boyfriend is being such a prick then this is when I naively wonder why you can't just talk to him about the mess, Truean. Explaining that there's no reason to feel threatened that you're trying to steal his girlfriend or whatever and that you're only interested in keeping friends with said girlfriend then there could (hopefully) be some progress towards fixing the whole misunderstanding. Or something.

Y'know what I'm saying? you just gotta, like, do the thing and talk about the whatever and stuff. [/buffyspeak]

Go-karting is actually really boring and terrible.

You're obviously at the wrong go-karting place. The one near us doesn't care what you do. Spinouts, ramming, and brakechecks are common.

I went go-karting at my friends birthday party. It was actually really fun!
I pretty much never let go of the gas pedal. I would have been in front of everyone, if one kid hadn't pulled in front of me as I was slowing down at the finish line.  >:(

Went go-karting once with my family.  Discovered my brother's ruthless streak.  He was shoving people to the side as he passed them and everything.  The crowning moment was when a section of the course was completely blocked off by a big clusterfuck of go-karts that got all turned around and stuck against each other.  There was an employee on the track trying to sort it out.  My brother comes around the corner and never even slows down.  Just rams his way through, forcing the guy to dive out of the way.  This was my autistic brother, who at that age still spent most of his time completely reclused into his own mind, to the point that he barely ever spoke, and had a generally meek personality when he did come out of his shell.  It was really something.
