Been miserable times for me and the wife, work related. She's been coming home crying because she's so tired of working for the medical industry. She says she can't stand to lie to patients anymore and (as is standard in the medical industry in America) if you aren't willing to lie to your patients you get fired.

:/
...
What kind of lies?

I assume something like "No, no, you aren't going to die."

That, and pushing whatever pharmaceutical interests are currently dominant over all other options. Just because the alternative medicine folk are crazy doesn't mean that doesn't happen.

Yeah probably this. I mean, you don't want to hire someone that's going to tell the truth to someone who wants sweet lies instead of bitter truth.

Currently I'm having mild motivation issues. All my games are either boring or uninteresting, and all the hobbies that I was telling myself I was looking forward to starting or continuing once summer arrived now seem...uninteresting. It feels like too much effort.

So now I'm faced with the option of doing something productive, which I obviously don't want to do for some reason on some unconscious level (otherwise I wouldn't be posting here) or not doing anything out of boredom and reflecting on how I'm wasting time by not doing anything productive that I probably wouldn't enjoy anyway. It's a bit of a bummer.

It's only the third proper day of school-free summer, too. D:

The lies aren't that bad, but stuff like "The doctor is busy for the moment, he'll call you when he gets back" when the doctor is actually out for the rest of the week, "We'll put you on the cancel list for this doctor" when... they won't. "We're sorry, this doctor doesn't have any availability at the moment, how about this other doctor?" when the real reason is that most of the doctors refuse to take medicare or medicaid patients, or "We'll call you right back as soon as we find out". There are a number of more serious ones in there too, but I honestly try not to pay too much attention.

She's not a doctor herself, she's just handles a large amount of office work, which means it's her job to placate customers with things that sound good but are blatantly untrue and come up with on the spot excuses for every time someone fucks something up, even serious things, so it doesn't "reflect poorly on the company".

In between the stress of finals, getting sick and not sleeping enough, I lost track of getting in shape. I gained what little weight I managed to lose right back, and my motivation went right out the door. It took weeks of nonstop effort and eating much less to even make the scale move and now I'm back to square one. I hate seeing my moobs and my gut in the mirror, thinking about how gross it must be for a (completely hypothetical, anymore) girlfriend to feel a body like mine when we hug. I have puffy cheeks that look stupid when I have short hair and get bad acne when it's long. I just feel like there's no way to win anymore.

Oooh, apologizing for other people's incompetence/laziness/greed while simultanously insulating them from well-deserved rage? Sounds like what my job is morphing into!  :-\

Been single for a while. Meet an amazing girl. Be really into each other. Go on a date. Things moved too fast in a short time. Should have known better. Things seem okay for a few days. Then she ignores me for a day. Breaks things off with me this morning. Tired of trying. Feeling pretty numb now.

You have a whole week and you know what you need to work on. Find a big empty parking lot and practice. If you have access to a snowmobile trailer or boat trailer or something then use that. If you know someone who'll let you use their rig, even better. Hell, a lawnmower with a grass broom is better than nothing. As long as it isn't a zero-turn. Those are good for helping to figure out the basic principles but the specific techniques are very different.

Today, I woke up on the hottest day of the year, already pretty thirsty, and headed out to run a few miles with no water after only drinking a soda.

I learned my fucking lesson, let me tell you. I didn't even get to much running, all the fight went out of my legs about halfway through.

£349 for PS4
despite it being $399 ~= £250
I may as well get a gaming PC for that money.
