Well, if I had problems sleeping, I'd consider drinking milk.  But as-is I'm trying to listen to the fact that my people are traditionally from Southern Europe and I might not be as genetically well-equipped to cling to cow teats as some others.

Also... I hate to say this, but I feel like the atmosphere here is changing, or I'm less equipped to deal with it than I was, or something like that.  Just not feeling so homey as it used to.

*shrug* It has changed in some ways, it always is. Anything specific that's been bothering you?

Eh... I feel like it's getting kind of rageyer and less polite over the past bit.  I mean, everywhere.  Mafia subforum has changed in tone, too.

I'd click on people and see how long they have been in the board Vector.

I was surprised that before my eyes the people here have entirely changed a few times since I signed up.

So tone shifts are expected.

No, I know how long people have been around.  I guess perhaps it's that some of the chiller people have left, than that rageyer people have joined.

Sort of. The Various nonsense board used to contain the Jerkiest people on the board... but because it was just sooo absolutely jerky it was taken down.

Which caused a migration of jerkiness into the other boards.

The extremely chill attitude the board has it attributed to both Toady and the fact that this board has a very great way to isolate all the hot headed trollyness to one area.

Still when I compare this to GameFAQs... this is still better. "What will Wii Fitness Girl's Tilts look like"

Yeah, I guess I'm just saying I felt there was a while when whateverist comments would show up, then the person would get argued down and I'd walk away feeling okay about it.  Nowadays I both have less energy to argue and it feels like stuff comes up and... no one cares.  Not really.

I don't know, I don't even feel like it's just this board.  I feel like external society is changing pretty quickly, too.  Things are getting much harder than they were.

Well, I recently graduated from college and have had the sudden shocking revelation that I could make nothing more than $12/hour for the rest of my life if I don't do something about it, and quick.

I just.  Yeah.  I don't want my main social interaction to involve aggression and nastiness.

Everybody has the potential to be nasty and vicious. Maturity comes from being able to leave that in the thread and not hold a grudge against people who disagree with you.
Bay12 has been stagnate for a while now, people choosing to just keep propping up the same threads and new constructive ones not showing up. As such, it got a little boring, and in response people made some "Argue here" threads. Avoid these threads, and you will find the old forum again.
There are a few exceptions like various interest or current event threads, maybe give them a shot.

Point is if you don't want to see people ready to fight, don't go to fight club.

Yeah, but I'm not talking about that.  A lot of these issues don't stay in one thread.  That's why we discuss them--because they're fairly universal issues.  So they pop up everywhere, and we end up having microfights in the emotion threads.

As for my interests, I guess what I'm trying to say is that maybe I'd do better just sticking to the book, movie, and game threads.  That's not really what I come here for (not really even my main interests), but the community in those zones seems to remain intact.

EDIT: I miss folks like Aqizzar, and Tack, and WorkerDrone, and Janet, and Jackrabbit, and all that wonderful crowd of personable folk who has left--and I guess maybe what I'm saying is that I haven't been able to reattach to the people who remain.

Stagnatatory Stagnatant.

I don't know, I don't even feel like it's just this board.  I feel like external society is changing pretty quickly, too.  Things are getting much harder than they were.

In general, Society doesn't change much ,by which I mean, it almost never, ever, ever changes. Ever. You think it is different from say 100 years ago? Same people, same Assholes, same arguments, same whining, different words, different styles, different science. This, is all. Trust me, have you read the arguments had a hundred years ago? Same thing. Science deniers are still the same, bigots are only now more limited to actual bigots then peopel just insulting other people. The government is still corrupt, politics still sucks, Wars still kill a lot of people for no good reason, civilians included. Liberals are still liberals, conservatives are still conservatives, moderates are still unimportant (joking), just shifted to the left. Manipulators Manipulate, Pimpers pimp, thieves thieve, and people still wonder why everything happens to them. There hasn't been a generation without social upheaval in a long time, and every single one longed for the days of old, when men were polite, women were modest, and children listened to their elders.

I feel I should rephrase. Society changes constantly. People, however, have not done so perceptibly.

No, I don't long for the days of old when civil rights weren't happening as much as they are now >_>

But yeah, I mean that society is changing.  That is why the post says society~
