On other news, I tried making an Onigiri. It failed spectacularly.

Time to eat all this leftover rice. ;~;
wet hand sprinked with salt, lay rice, put filling in center, close hand

Rice doesn't stick. Or didn't stick, rather. Gonna try again with Japanese rice.

You should be using sushi rice (rice with vinegar)

Yeah, when I tried making onigiri and maki, I found that rather than wetting your hand with just water, adding just the slightest bit of vinegar worked really well.

That's in addition to the sushi rice containing vinegar. :P

I wonder... Could you use wine as an alternative? Something dark and red, and then instead of seafood you use some cut of meat, and instead of seaweed wrap you use bacon.

Red wine vinegar would likely spoil the flavour of the rice, and make it akin to balsamic vinegar in taste.

We have two kittens now. Momma cat came around last night and took three of them away.

And no, this is NOT an unusual euphemism for death. We knew that she had come around the night before, but figured she was just visiting the kittens, cleaning them and stuff. We left the enclosure easy for an adult cat to get in and out of for that very reason. Instead she's taking them somewhere else, and it doesn't appear to be our woodpile. Not sure if we're gonna try to keep the last two or not, especially considering the most friendly of the kittens was one of the ones taken away.

I feel morose, empty, lonely, emotionally and intellectually crippled... I don't know where I'm going, or how I'm going to get there. This frigging sucks.

Evidently, we're no longer going out, or at least, we haven't since late march.... Are we? Aren't we?

How lovely.

You know, I actually do like him, both that way and as a person. It'd be nice if he would even just call and talk or something.

I got a pocket dial from him the other day and really that was about it. No voice, no anything really.

You were so close, Bloax... so close to getting Cleverbot to believe humans were capable of real cleverness... but then you dropped the ball. Alas, poor Cleverbot must return to having silly self-referential conversations.
Well shit, super-high level wordplay isn't quite my thing two in the morning after a week of not-really-sleeping.

But alas, Cleverbot must now once again indulge in stupidity. That poor thing.

@Footjob, you can microwave most grains I've tried pretty easily through the microwave, even if they aren't packaged for it.

What a waste of time. He could be out trying new things and meeting people instead of sleeping in a carpark.

Yeah, that just makes me feel crummy. Max, that would be the obvious solution, but the idea of what to do or where to start might just not occur, especially for folks with little experience going out and doing things. And the weight of parental disappointment can be heavy enough to push someone like that to pretend. Especially if his dad is crying?

Though seriously, storydad. Just show your kid how it's done. Surely you'd recognize that active help is much more useful than intermittent prodding. Though maybe storydad is just hoping the kid will magically figure it out, and start raising themselves for him?

As an aside, I can say from experience that sleeping in parking lots, especially in Fall/Winter, is not very comfortable. But an interesting experience.
