I think I've got a way to keep the Descanites happy.

So what we do is this: First, we /extend/ your brain. We build a copy of your brain, but instead of just booting it up, we HOOK you to the copy somehow, so you can the copy are sharing information.

So basically, it's all you, one consciousness, but you've got a redundant copy of all the data. I think you'd agree that this is still you, right?
This is where Frumple would want it to stop. Barring more copies, at least. Many bodies, one mind. Yes, yes. Could get so much done! And do so many things! Including each other, heeheehee.
Though digital or purely mechanical copies would be fine, if that'd cut down on resource issues. Partial connections would be neat, too, so you could have semi-independent copies that could still "check in", so to speak, or body-swap with or somethin'. I want me-drones. Pseudo-AI minions would be cool, too. Something along those lines. Multi-tasking aids par excellence. And think of the comedy routines!

@magma
Meh, sounds perfectly natural- seeing pictures and knowing that somewhere, this happens all the time takes on a new meaning when you actually witness it. Physical proximity makes all the difference, (or at least some, if you'd actually known the guy beforehand you'd be having a slightly different reaction right now). You could always try and find out who he was, why he did it. Might make you feel better, being able to explain it. :/

Ugh, throat still having issues for quite a while.  Going to pour myself some hot tea, then see if I still have health care through my parents.  Need to visit our nose/throat/ear doctor real bad.

So, family members heavily indoctrinating younger relatives against gays....

It's fascinating in the same way reading about a horrid disaster is and for the same reasons. Hearing those words from those I taught, because their parents couldn't be bothered to....  Whatever was on TV at any given time appeared more important than their children, it seems. None of them apparently really know how I really am. Countless: the times I've bailed them out, and the unprintable things I've heard.... And, as usual, I should bail my ignorant relatives out again. This is, of course, the incredibly abridged version of events and relationships....

Best yet, I have a fair number of thugs begging me, or trying to hide the fact that they are begging me, to save them from jail, but you, cousin, you impetuous bastard, are actually demanding it contemptuously while condemning what I am? You ignoramus. Tell me, how does the hand the feeds you taste? I wouldn't know. And, I just stand there before him, straight, controlled, like a sentry in a storm who knows that they have to take it and have to remain there even when they can take it no longer.

If I don't save you, then I forsake my nieces and nephews (who depend upon you for support).

If I save you, then you will forsake me.

I find myself laughing, just laughing uncontrollably at all of it, head tilted back straight into the sky in a mixture of surrender and challenge to my inevitable destruction. I am to be forsaken by my kin, who are somehow holier than thou thieves and several other things. And what's the worse to take, I could be so much worse than they are if I wanted to. It isn't a question of opportunity, ability or certainty of getting away with it for me to be a shithead. I absolutely could and I absolutely don't wanna be. Hell, the sheer about of corruption I could engage in without even trying is staggering, but even more staggering is that I don't. Somehow, through all this, I'm the one who's a sinner in their eyes, or I would be if they knew....

Speaking of knowledge, if I really, truly wanted to obliterate them, I would tell them the whole, total truth--about me, about them. Most people have several fissures in them and they use those to pretend they don't know they are lying to themselves about who and what they really are. I act as the world demands one should act, only I can't do it half way. If I explained to them, in true words, aimed precisely, forged of persuasion honed by years of it, exactly what they are, it would probably destroy them. I don't think they'd be able to go back to what they are currently if I took that delusion away from them. It wouldn't be taking anything they had, but rather it would be taking something they never had, which I grant you is worse....

They say the worst thing you can do to someone is to kill their self respect. No, the worst thing you can do is to kill someone's pretense at it.

Truean, just tell them. Not like they can do shit to you anyway, you might as well stand up for yourself. If they don't like it they can deal with it.

I'm readin' this, and I'm thinkin' you're done with this caustic shit. I think these mentally-ill, ass-backwards people deserve to see and hear what's wrong with them- AND hide no secrets from their ears when you do so. Tell them everything and more; they need to hear it.

Yeah, I'm with the general consensus here. If you're so sick of their bullshit, reveal the truth to them and watch them burn. I know all too well how repressing this stuff goes. It doesn't go well.

I think that this might be one of those times where the best course of action is to look down and whisper "No."

Truean, you let yourself get walked over professionally for the sake of your career. You do NOT have to do it with your family as well. If you owe them anything, you owe robbing them of this pretense.

Do you know the majority of the US supports gay marriage, now? Do you know that the reason for this is due almost solely to the number of people who said "I won't hide it anymore"? Will you turn them around? Maybe, maybe not. Maybe a few, maybe not most. But right now, you're suffering because of them, and if you can deliver their come-up-ance AND potentially do something good in the meantime... I'd go for it.

I don't know the details, of course, the minutae. But it seems like you do, and that you want to. So do it. For the kids, at least.

The only thing I feel like doing is playing FTB on a server.

I made an application for a server yesterday, no replies, not whitelisted on the server.
Wonderful. Boredom.

Well, I've got a test in a day for four days and I'm worried that I'm not prepared. :/
This test has a weight of 40% compared to last years' 10%, and the pool of competitors has shrunk by 50%, meaning that it will be twice as hard to get into the elusive eighty-ninth percentile you must be in to get the US-equivalent of an A. 11% in my case is about the top 28 out of 250ish people. There is a total of eight tests each much harder than anything taught in class and armed to the gills with twisted logic that'll make one writhe in agony. The worst part is that just being a master of whatever subject won't cut it. You need to be more of a master than the other 249 people who also have everything at stake here, and consistantly master it for two more years... :(

This is Korean midterms.

... I think I'm going to get a 4 in math, which on this test involves matrices, exponents, arithmetic and harmonic and multiplying progressions and series and recursive definitions of series...
