I couldn't find the quote I was looking for from some community fort. Something about a series of madmen designing a fort while hating each others madness.
I have no idea where anything is. I have no idea what anything does. This is not merely a madhouse designed by a madman, but a madhouse designed by many madmen, each with an intense hatred for the previous madman's unique flavour of madness.

"If you leave law, you won't be a lawyer."

Can I get that in writing? Does that mean I will never have to smell another drunk driver in a jail cell the morning after, or have to listen to a literal crackhead tell me how things are going to work? Does this mean I will never have to look at how the poor are placed in prison merely because they can't pay a bond? Does this mean I won't have to listen to whiny little over-entitled kids bitch while they throw away their lives on heroin, as I try to help them help themselves?  Do you promise? Pretty please? There's talk of a cherry on top.

I don't care if you are a girl Truean, you are now an old grizzled private eye.
This. Every time I see your posts I can't help but hear a noir voice reading them out to me.

Late to the punch, but here you go: http://soundcloud.com/foaloke/truean-noir
Working on the grizzled, but not quite there yet. I should probably take up smoking.

She's not a sentient cakebirdhat?
So I'm not the only one who keeps seeing it as a bird? Specifically a budgerigar for me.

I keep seeing it as a white insect's head. Something like a caterpillar.

Recently I got to stand around idly nodding along to a couple of my relatives swap theories on how America's current ammunition shortage is due to Barack Obama buying and redistributing all the bullets so white people won't be able to defend themselves against black muggers.

I was pretending to work today, when a joking conversation about the differences between Yankee and Dixie accents segued into something that began with "The problem with the blacks is..."  I stopped paying too much attention after that while my boss and another guy spent ten minutes agreeing with each other.

In both cases, eventually a Youtube video with a hundred million hits came up of a reporter trying to interview some out of touch ghetto stooge, just to prove every stereotype has at least one perfect example.

It's not that I'm tired of being the 'token liberal' trying to proselytize people into the modern era and coming off like a parody myself, I gave up on that a long time ago.  It's not that I'm tired of having the common fucking decency to keep your mouth shut is a 'token liberal' position instead of just common fucking decency.  It's that I'm simultaneously tired of not having the effort left to care, and not wanting the effort to care.  I'm tired of the apparently never-ending feeling of giving up on caring.

The irresistible force of smug moral superiority has been defeated by the immovable object of self-assured tribalism.  I simply do not have the power to give a shit and I'm tired of the world rubbing my apathy in my face.

Is there really an ammunition shortage or did they make that up?

It is the case that places that sell ammunition have a hard time keeping it on the shelves.  This is almost entirely due to paranoid rednecks buying it all up because they're still convinced the guvmint is going to kick down their doors and take it all, and every time there's some high-profile violence they just get more paranoid.

To be very slightly fair, of those two relatives of mine: One has an entire room of his house dedicated to a shrine to John Wayne.  The other believes condensation-contrails are a myth and the white streams behind planes are actually mind-control chemicals being distributed on the populace.

Seriously.  If you feel like killing a few minutes and braincells, Google "chemtrails" and see just how deep the rabbit hole goes.

Conspiracy theorists make me sad, sometimes.

So does the "Ancient Aliens" program and their apparent utter ignorance of... Well, everything.

I'm guessing they're having server issues. I think they had a long blackout like this before when upgrading, though that time it was just the forum that was down and not the whole site.

Aye, I was wondering that too. It's been down for about 2 days.
