I can't do electric razors. I've wound up in pain and even bleeding more times from them than from my good ol'safety razors. I don't understand how they actually WORK for people.

I had always cut myself shaving, always. It's odd, no matter what I use. I just sort of got used to it.

Saying that makes it sound somewhat terrible, now that I read it.

No, no... it's kinda' understandable. You can get use to seeing blood like that. Gods know that I became ambivalent somewhere into the second or third week of bleeding daily. Was a good five or six months before the hole in me closed up enough to stop completely. That was a fairly unpleasant year or so, though missing a semester of highschool was a minor upshot.

Still kinda' freak out when I see other people bleeding, but when I'm th'one doing it it's become a sort of muted "Eh. Here we go again." sensation. People get used to the oddest things, I guess.

Bleeding isn't odd.
If you're NOT bleeding when cut; then we have a problem.

So one of my closer friends' life has been falling apart because of a terrible argument between his parents. I felt bad for him, because i've seen problems like that before, so I told him that if he ever gets kicked out of his house or anything he can stay with me for a while.

D:

Also, started shaving about a year ago and I have not yet once cut myself while shaving.

It's the cutting I think.... You're about a step too far removed from the source of the concern.

I keep trying to find out but nothing I can find explains why getting hit in the head would make your ears bleed.

Certainly it could happen if you were hit in the ear... but nothing I see suggests WHY it happens if you are hit in the head other then "it can happen"

The... Blood rushes to your face and leaks out your ears?
It's the same principle as puking blood when you get internal bleeding?
I 'unnu.

Puking blood when you "get internal bleeding" refers to your lungs bleeding. What happens is you tend to swallow a lot of the blood from your lungs and when your stomach fills with enough blood it responds by puking.

I kept looking and the only thing it suggests is that if you get a head injury your head may start filling with blood and the increases pressure may cause your ears and nose to bleed. It is a serious sign of injury.

I pretty much invariably dry shave; or rather, I do so after a shower (and after drying my face) so the sking is still kinda damp and softer than usual. If I just shave completely dry, it's not great. Tend not to cut myself, though.
