Thanks, Pnx.  I'll deal with it... I've decided that learning more about the person in question is the best thing to do if we date or if we are to become closer friends, so I'm just sticking with the undifferentiated path right now.

I have never hated relative grading this much. So far, that is. Probably hitting a peak next year.
Graaahhhh. Who's smart idea was it to stack everyone up on a normal curve, then encouraging everyone to study hard? Couple that with the teeny tiny test range and the practicality infinitely approaches zero.

Well, i don't know why it has to be something like a "big version of us". Why does God have to be a mind like a human? Couldn't God be like an anthill or something? Why does God, even if it exists, have to have a human-compatible consciousness? Aren't we as a race projecting a bit much?

That's what I mean, but in reverse. The difference between our consciousness and his would be like comparing the amount of consciousness a dorf has with ours.

It is more that God is so beyond people that is it is ultimately unknowable. Thus we can only attempt to understand.

My point with the anthill is to ask, why does there need to be a "single" consciousness at all? That's pretty much only basing this idea of a single entity "God" on ourselves. And it's arrogant to say that the way we "just happen" to operate as evolved entities, is ALSO the way "the creator of the universe" operates.

Anyway, why even a consciousness at all? Why limit the universe's potential by the model of our own existence, since we're a fairly insignificant randomly-created thing. "Consciousness" is something we only really know about from OURSELVES. To state the entirety of everything, ever, works on our personal species principle is very arrogant.

Why does the have to be a "mind" behind anything at all? Pretty much humans are very good at anthropomorphizing - probably due to our evolution as a social creature we project the idea of consciousness onto everything and everyone so we can better judge their future behavior. It works well for other humans, but not so well for inanimate objects. We see a "mind" in everything - volcanoes, trees, rocks, the wind, the moon, the sun, the stars, the Earth itself. We we wrong about there being a mind inside all those other things - i don't see any reason to give the benefit of the doubt to people who say "well we can't say for sure, so there's definitely a Mind behind the universe itself!".

Our curriculum is...not that very good in committing itself to aiding the understanding of students. While I've heard that the usual "here's the reference books. These chapters are given. You study. Quiz in two days." from the past...it's pretty annoying that the topics for discussion (which are about an hour each) just...read verbatim from the book :S

That, and one more year in my course due to the fact that my brain isn't a sponge enough to memorize things only meant in the current week, for the quizzes. But no tests over time to measure understanding. Muh.

...That, and the fact that many parts of our government sucks. Higher votes on candidates less qualified because...of many varying reasons which does not suit good leadership.

Aaaanyway, to try to help the conversation. Religion is a guide, it doesn't dominate your life - when people judge you and determine you're going to hell, that's perfectly wrong; personally, something due to how their perspective is on life. You can't judge others based on anything in that manner (inasmuch as much of the things in religious books like the Bible are written in a non-literal manner).
