I know there's a dream thread, but I'm talking about my reaction to it more than the dream itself;

So last night, I had a dream about my cat. She disappeared two years ago and we haven't seen her since. In my dream, she just showed up at the house, happy and healthy and acting like she never left.
Well, I woke up from that and couldn't help but cry a little. She was an old cat, nearly 17 years old at the time of her disappearance and not exactly the picture of health. We looked for her of course, but she was never found. Even now, though it's more than likely that she died at some point, I can't help but wonder, because I just don't know for sure what happened. For all I know she found a new, loving home and is living fat and spoiled even now. Or maybe she went out for a walk that night she vanished and got attacked by a dog. I just don't know, and it's killing me. Did we give up searching too soon? Did she get lost and was hoping that I'd rescue her?

Sometimes I wish that I simply came home one day and found her dead. Hell, I had started dreading that moment for a good year as her health slowly got worse from old age. It's terrible, but at least I'd have closure and at least she would have passed away safe in her house. But instead this is how it happened, and the fact that I will never, ever know the truth is going to haunt me for a long time.

That's a pity.  If you were one of the people this was referring to, I didn't notice it.

you probably need to work on recognizing when your language is emotionally loaded and that there are proper and improper times to use such language.

I wasn't aware that it was, so you may be right.  I'd genuinely appreciate it if you could drop me a PM with a specific example or two

I received the troll balm, but LizardofTheRose2012 on the infowars forum warned me that stuff is actually a substance that makes people passive and docile.  Your company uses it to silence complaints.  So I burned it.  It occurs to me now that I may have inhaled it as a result, but whatever.  I don't even care anymore.

There's a certain topic on this board right now that I keep being drawn to in the hopes that it's gotten less depressing, but it never has. I keep wanting to post, but failing my own "Is this going to be a constructive addition to the discussion" filter because there's nothing I can say that will change the views that are bothering me. I'm not really up for having my own experiences trivialized and argued away.

Amongst the students on my Orbital physics course there are 2 models of calculator present in roughly equal proportion. One model rounds Pi to a far smaller number of signifigant digits than the other. Due to the nature of the topic which has large values produced as the product of a function containing Pi, often squared, cubed or raised to the 4th power, the result generated for problems I set often depends on which model of calculator a student owns.
