Blurgh, spring break is almost over and I don't wanna work tomorrow and I don't wanna do homework why can't I just be independently wealthy?

Max is in 'hilariously flanderized anti-agreement' mode tonight.

You can! Just invest $200 dollars in my new company, Pyramid Marketing, and get two friends to invest, and you'll make back $300 dollars! It's foolproof!

Every time I'm about to get genuinely angry about political idiocy, I remember that there are people out there who think it is a good idea to make sagged pants illegal. After that I can no longer take the subject seriously.
*mumblemutter* They'll take my saggy pants just as soon as they give me goddamn money so I don't have to have the weight of wasting money on superfluous clothes on my own conscience. Yes, they sag, yes I've lost my belt again, no, I'm not spending several weeks worth of food money on replacing something that covers up the essentials. You want more, you be an immoral wasteful sloth bastard and give me the money to fix it. Been wearing the same damn pants for over five years now and I've lost weight. Too goddamn bad, there's no holes in them, they're unstained, and other than being a little loose they fit well enough. Ain't fixin' what innit broke unless you pay me to waste the money. That'll be price of clothes plus 10% for emotional distress, fuckers.

Pff. I don't have $200 or two friends that can invest. Pyramid schemes are biased against the poor! Help, help, I'm being repressed!

Seriously, though, I am really not looking forward to driving over 60 miles round trip (~100km) unpaid to do two hours of work. Well, about 20 minutes of work, and an hour and 40 minutes of standing around wishing I had someone to train or sell to.

I'm a rep. I work in the store I'm told to. Just so happens that the store I've been working in is in the next town over.

My dad has a 180 mile roundtrip commute everyday for work. :/
That commute would be hellacious and I don't understand why anyone would do it. However, I'm betting he'll make more than roughly $10 for his shift. (BasePay*2hours - taxes - child support == almost nothing.) The pay is not worth the time spent driving, let alone the time spent in-store.

You forgot to include gas prices in that equation.

Could... couldn't he buy a house closer in fairly short order just by the gas he'd be saving instead? Or... something. Assuming 20 mpg, that's 9 gallons/day. If he's in the states, I'd wager somewhere around 3.50ish (s'what it is where I'm at... might be higher, might be lower depending on local) a gallon, or 28.50/day. 5 days/week brings that to ~142/week, ~428/month, ~5k/year. Give it... 40k-60k for a lower end house? One I'm sitting in was purchased at ~30k, though I'm in a fairly inexpensive area. Bit over a decade to pay it off just from gas money if he was within walking/biking/bus distance at 60k. Bit under at 40k. To say nothing about what kind of money could be rustled up with an extra three hours (assuming going sixty) in your day.

Not really sure why I ran those off. I guess the guy deserves the benefit of the doubt he's ran the cost considerations, or has something else mandating a ridiculous drive like that. Unless... by bus or train? That might be considerably cheaper and more sane.

One of my friends told me there's a girl at her college that commutes a 160 mile round trip every day on her motorcycle. I'm not sure if that's more badass or crazy.
