Science terms are very similar across languages. Until you get into different alphabets.

It helps that they're all recent.

Just saw this news story: Author Iain Banks has terminal cancer.  It's too early to bury him yet, but if the prognosis is accurate, it's definitely far from good.

Why must all the wonderful writers get horrible health problems?

Why must all the wonderful writers get horrible health problems?
Because they're human, and humans tend to get horrible health problems, especially as they age?

This is why I want to be immortal - so I can punch Time in the face and say 'fuck you, I'm writing my damn book and now you can't stop me!'

Remember that time on Life Advice when I asked you guys whether or not I should take an admin's offer on joining the staff on their RP Forum? Many months ago, I took on his offer and said yes. Ever since, my entire time there has been no fun at all. I now pretty much know /all/ the secrets of that forum. There's nothing left to discover. The man who gave me the job in the first place, who I'm calling "N", has been searching for me for months, wondering where I'd gone after I disappeared. He finally managed to find and confront me, and I voiced my general lack of entertainment there. I...had to announce to N that I could no longer play or RP there, simply because the magic and drive from the first day I arrived has left. I, Nega, have been a member of their RP forum for three years, which also makes me one of their oldest members. After finally saying my goodbye to him, N officially announced my leaving on the forum's Cbox. He now completely blames himself, even when I repeated many times that it was my fault because I decided to say yes.

I feel like shit now.  :'(

Being an admin of any RP server can really fucking suck, I've helped run a lot of different RP forums/servers and it starts off great. But then it starts sucking for a multitude of reasons. Personally for me, I realized there were more idiots than you'd think there would be and I'd never be able to play as a regular player anymore.

My daughter may have asthma. She's on albuterol, and it makes her super-aggravatingly-hyperactive. >.<

Start teaching her the art of face-punching. That should wear her out.

Hi all,

I just remembered this place randomly, and decided to show up for a moment to apologize for the way I acted while I was here. I behaved like a mid-adolescent arsehole, because at the time I was one. I figured I might as well make some sort of minor amends.

Thanks.

WHY DID YOU HAVE ME KICK THEM WTF I DID NOT WANT TO BE SHOT AT.
I dunno, you guys have survived Thomas the tank engine, golems, zombies, nuclear explosions, laser whales, and being on the same team as ragnarock.  I don't think something as tame as a world ending rain of lava will even slow you guys down.

And now, when the next person along asks the same question, you need to remember to weigh in!

Me, I'm a natural admin/moderator. I actively enjoy it, and it's a role I fall into naturally. But you can be an admin, or you can be a player. It's very, very hard to be both. But there's only really one way to learn that lesson. Chalk it up to experience, I guess.
