It appears a friend of mine is dodging me. If nothing else, she's being really nice about it and coming up with excuses at least, instead of telling me I'm boring or otherwise whatever reason she's not talking to me. [sigh].

I don't understand this, but frankly, at least she's trying to be considerate. [sigh]
That's not nice. How is that nice?
We need to do a meetup thing. Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, close to that area Canada, places like that. It'd be great.

What Descan said. That's the opposite of nice.

For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

Well, she's clearly not gonna talk to me for whatever reason. Nothing I can do about that. She's not telling me to go play in traffic, but she could. So not telling me to get lost and or fling myself off a cliff is sorta nice I suppose. Or rather it's nicer than telling me that, which I suspect she'd like to. Not that I have the slightest idea why she would wanna say that but ....

Nice would be telling you -why- she's ignoring you. What she's doing now is, at best, benevolent dickishness.

@MZ, yes, I agree. But why did you say that after quoting that particular segment. Doesn't seem to go together.

I forgot to delete some. I meant to say, "Oh, it would be cool if we could all get together sometime and hang out as people with a common interest, and not have to put up with the same ol' shit like Truean is doing at the moment."

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

So I know MZ, Truean, Bauglir, myself, and I know there's another regular in Michigan.  That's all I've got.

It just hit me, my birthday was on the 21st, and I'm 24 years old now. Another tick up to death. Another year was spent in the same malaise I've spent many a year in now.

Atleast I have a job now, I've still to see my first day there, but I got it. Hopefully things will be better from here on out.

If y'all wind up doing a Rust Belt B12 meetup, on the heels of the Cascadia meetup....

Cackalackistan meetup HO! (open to residents of other Southeastern/Mid-Atlantic states too, of course)

Sad!  Been playing a Sil character the last couple days.  Died at 950'.  Was a total badass and just about to head into Morgoth's throne room.
