According to people I know, I have a tremendous ability to craft words in such a way as to enthrall the reader, but I can't remember where or who I am half the time.
Are you Batman?
I might be. I have no idea.

You called? *everyone raises hand*

But seriously, do people really expect a magic fix from all of that? O_o That's crazy. It's either desperation or stupidity, and I hope it's the former because while it's worse in the short term it means, well, people in general aren't the problem.

Happy and sad...

Woken up by family.  Elect out of stuff I was woken up for, in favor of getting more sleep.  Family leaves.  I start having creepy alone thoughts, but am comfortable to let them run free in my head.  Creepy alone thoughts turn into amazing game concept.  Can't sleep because of amazing game concept.  Wish I actually had the resources to make it happen.

This is essentially what I've been doing every week, I've been reading this one really famous work of fan fiction where the author added in some crazy new characters that weren't there originally (with names that totally don't fit the theme or the other character's names), redesigned a lot of people's personalities and gave them new spins, and made it pretty heavily about crazy husband/wife politics and people having affairs and such (with a dose of rather pointless fighting).

It's absolutely nuts and pays no respect to the stuff it was originally based off of, I love it.

Begs the question then, why didn't they just write an original novel?

Quote from: Chesterton
For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

Besides, creating a setting takes a lot of work. Creating characters takes a lot of work.

If you have a story, don't want to profit off of it, have this great setting that it works GREAT for, and aren't that good at the actual... world-building part...

Why re-invent the wheel? Especially if you'll end up making a square instead?

Probably. I'm still wondering about why he decided to take a setting that includes names like Cardinal Richelieu, D'artagnan, and King Louis XIII. But chose to name three of his characters Athos, Porthos, and Aramis.
