One of my friends says he isn't going to hang out anymore because he is too poor and is frustrated when he has to watch us eat.

This is the second time in my life I had something like this happen.

My solution would be to buy him something to eat as well; I'm not sure how practical this is for you.

Yeah... people who are in that situation don't want to have everything bought for them.

It is rather practical otherwise.

I got a new dog reccently. He's a friendly excitable thing. And as I just learned he gets carsick. Five minutes in a car he starts vomiting, five minutes outside and he's back to his happy self. Back in the car and he starts vomiting again. So anyone got any advice for taking dog vomit out of car seat upholsetery?
I've never had a dog that didn't vomit in the car at least once... especially the first time you take them for a car ride.

Surely you can convince him otherwise. I understand he doesn't want to 'feed' off you or such, but really, too poor to eat properly? And his solution is to not look at people eating?

Anything is better than that, surely.

Alternatively, invite all the buddies out and pick up the check for everyone. Poorbuddy doesn't feel so bad about not being able to pay, and is more likely to go out with you if you let him know up front that you're paying for everyone because you got a good paycheck or something. I'm usually poorbuddy, myself.

More costly but also more effective - I used to employ this tactic on visits to the pub. :P

Besides, while I don't like it when people buy me stuff all the time (it feels weird, and kind of patronizing,) I don't mind driving if someone else is paying for food. The usual phrase they frame this with, "Hey, man, if you fly, I'll buy." It works every time.

I'm so tempted to buy a 1:1 replica gravity gun; it's a very poor use of money... But, it looks so awesome...
I was weak.

It does in that it replicates gravity on a 1:1 scale.

@Footjob, you can microwave most grains I've tried pretty easily through the microwave, even if they aren't packaged for it.

You just need to backpedal a few decades to when Abba was still all the rage.
