Went to visit my grandmother a few days ago. When I walked in the door, I was hit in the face by the odor of gas. Three minutes or so later, I was lightheaded and practically dragging her out the door while I called the gas company. After about an hour and a half outside in the snow, in below freezing temperatures, the guy pulled up. As it turns out, there were foot-high flames rolling out of her furnace, all of the controls were melted, and the CO2 levels had been at around 60,000 ppm and rising when we started ventilating. My grandmother continued to insist that nothing had been wrong, and was snippy towards the tech the whole time he was there. The only reason anyone had to visit her then was because an earlier visit had been delayed (funnily enough, by furnace troubles). Just... a massive ball of frustration and "what-if" right now. Fuck.

I'm surprised she survived that.

Apparently the buildup came relatively suddenly; someone else had visited a day or two before and not noticed anything wrong. But yeah, if I was a religious man, I'd be on my knees praying in thanks. It was a beautiful coincidence that put us there when we were.  :-\

I finally saw Looper.

I was super hype, and it ended up not being for me. I was way sadder than I should have been.

And I have weather of about 6 degrees in the day, about 1 at night.

I hate where I live. We had it cold enough to snow for about a week, so what happens?
No clouds.
6 degrees when i woke up, guess im keeping the beard for a few more days.

32f is 0C. Yet the conversion rate is NOT 3.2 something. Because the boiling point is 212f and 100C.

Anything that I need to preform 3 different math operations to convert screams to me that we need everyone to use a standard system.

While I usually prefer the American way for most things, because I'm too lazy to learn how to eyeball stuff in metric, I'm behind Celsius this time.  Because 38 degrees doesn't sound nearly as hot as 100 degrees, and 0 degrees makes it sound a lot crazier to not stay curled up warm in bed than 32 degrees.

To be exact, it's only two operations! :D It requires that you multiply by decimals, though.
Also, 100 F is only 38 C? >.>
400 F sounds like a mighty high temperature to cook at, but turns out it's only 200 C or so...

Fractions, actually. Can't represent 5/9 with decimals, unless you use exotic signs such as lines.
