To clarify, I've never been like that, even when I was on cocaine and bath salts and shit. I always made sure to eat, and sleep, and drink water. And I never spent ALL my money on drugs. Just the disposable income that didn't go to rent, or food. Or gas/other needs. (By which I mean hookers, obviously.)

Liar, Hans. You sleep with hookers? You know hookers have higher standards than that.

They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

Had an argument with my father in which I realized that I'm a shitty person who takes everything for granted.

Goodnight.

I usually spend the last few hours before new years with an old group of friends.

This is the first year I haven't, they're all off in odd corners of the land and I'm not surrounded by people I love.

Rang in the new year by getting shitfaced on bourbon, then doing several thousand dollars worth of damage to the house my friend is so kind to let me live in. Thankfully, his homeowner's insurance covers it, and I just owe him the $500 deductible. But still....WTF 2013?? This is about the "gun to the baby new year's head" joke, isn't it?

I'm really hoping 2013 is just frontloading all the karmic retribution.

When I get really drunk and start to feel ill, I have this tendency to want to take a warm bath*. So, I went up to the upstairs bathroom after we got back home from a party, and started drawing a warm bath. Climbed in, and must have promptly passed out.

His bathtub doesn't have an overflow drain.  :'(

Woke up when he was banging on the door about half an hour later, when water had started pouring down through the ceiling. They're going to have to basically rip out the entire bathroom, living room ceiling, some hallway and replace a lot of wood and carpet and run these big industrial dehumidifiers for 3-5 days.

*I attribute this to a near-fatal bender around my 18th birthday, when I drank a fifth of whiskey in half an hour. The alcohol poisoning caused my body temperature to start dropping, so the people I was with (who I mostly barely knew at the time) stripped me and put me in a warm bath to keep my body temp up until I stabilized. Ever since then, it's been Pavlovian -- if I get really drunk, I wind up taking a warm bath.
