That might be as Iclanders are so very "No Biggie" about EVERYTHING. If they were any more laid back, they would be horizontal vertical again.

Knowing Belgium, everyone will vote for themselves out of mistrust for anyone else, and some kind of weird direct democracy coalition will need to be formed from 11 million or so individuals.

Also why is summer so important?

She's what I refer to as "solar powered"; her mood is drastically affected by the weather.  And since the "weather" in Norway during winter is 16 hours of darkness interspersed with 8 hours of grayness or rain/snow (if you're in the southern-ish part of the country, otherwise you move up towards 20-22 hours a day WHILE it's snowing), that means she tends to be more heavily weighted towards being unhappy during this time of year than during the summer.  Normally, some time during spring or early summer she gets the upswing that marks her change from the negative pole up to a more positive, functioning level.
Sounds like classic seasonal affective disorder. Which is exceedingly common in Scandinavia because of the high seasonal variability in the light/dark cycle. Although interestingly enough, it's very rare in Iceland.

To an extent, yeah.  And she may very well have that along with everything else.  However, seeing as she has minor swings throughout the year, does experience hypomanic upswings, and has been clinically diagnosed with and treated for bipolar disorder...  I think that's still the star of the show.

Although exactly how effective her "treatment" has been is a good question, as her psychiatrist pretty much refuses to discuss changing medicines once she's on something (even though this latest medicine she was using had unpleasant side effects that were hurting the overall process.  She eventually stopped and refused to continue taking them in order to get him to discuss alternatives), and her assigned doctor is a scatterbrained mook who doesn't know who she is (despite having had her as a patient for years) and doesn't meet up to his own appointments...

Sounds like she should seriously consider moving south. Much easier said than done, of course, especially while depressed. But it'd be for the best.

I can only agree with this. It sounds, really bad. And continuing to live there is just never-ending torture.

Difficult enough while depressed, extra difficult when depressed and basically having to say goodbye to everyone you've known your whole life, even more difficult when you're currently living with your mother (who has her own job and connections), and the 50,000$ in debt to the student loan organization doesn't make life any easier.

EDIT:  Just now realized the initials of Seasonal Affective Disorder are "S.A.D."

One of my more severe first-world problems.

Tried hitting a light switch with a hand that was also holding a glass full of milk.
Yeah.

I drank an entire jar of pickle juice. This may be a slight mistake.

I've been developing a nihilist attitude since the dawn of September. I mean, why try to find love when you know it's just going to end someday, maybe 1 or 2 years? Why waste investing time on hollow things that just simply disappear if popped too hard?

Why try to keep pushing onwards, if onwards is really just going deeper into the rabbit hole without any profit of any form?

And the feeling you get after success is hollow. Almost like a fading memory. In short, do what after that? After the curtains come to a close and the play ends?

All I can suggest is doing something else after "the play ends". Strive for bigger and better accomplishments. And never forget the times you had before.

I wish. I wish I could. But I find it hard to find my own way, a purpose, a goal to strive for and achieve.

I should try though, but I don't know where to start.

Make a list. Everything you would ever like to do. Choose a couple things, expand upon them. If you look, opportunities come.

Here's an example of a list by an awesome dude:
