Homosexual relationships are wrong in the eyes of the one who designed the reproductive process. A robot that dosen't function the way it was designed might gain sympathy in the eyes of it's mechanical peers, but that doesn't mean it's working. Again, I can only give a specific answer to a specific question.

So, wait. The omnipotent deity can't fix it? He not only fucked up with humans, but also animals? He can't fix whatever causes homosexuality so it pleases him again? He gives us the desire and love of the same sex, with the force of the most primal drive on the planet behind it, and then says "Yeah, don't do that. It's wrong. Go sleep with a woman, even though you have no desire to."

Why are we worshipping him again, if he's this incompetent? It's not even a question of free-will, he just fucked up, end of story. One of the problems I have with god and the problem of evil, "Free will!" doesn't cut it because so much evil in the world is from non-human sources. Hurricanes, gamma ray bursts, supernova, animal attacks, earthquakes, radiation, poisons, genetic disorders. The best I've heard someone explain it is as a "If good things happen in one part of the universe, bad things have to happen somewhere else."

In which case: WHY BUILD IT THAT WAY?! Seriously, God is the most incompetent engineer I've heard of it. If he was a human, he'd be fired and  living on the street from the crappy designs and crappy mechanics he's made.

As for your analogy, it's not so much a robot that doesn't function the way it's designed, as it is a robot that malfunctions -by design-, and then hating it.

Homosexuality is meant as a test of sorts.  Same as evil.

Homosexuality is wrong because it is pointless pleasure.  You cannot make children with homsexual acts.  In fact, nothing but pleasure can come of it.  Pleasure for the sake of pleasure (esp. in a way that detracts from other, more fruitful endeavors) is corupting and inefficient.

In the same vein, thinking homosexual thoughts themselves is not 'evil' or wrong, but acting upon said thoughts is.  Everybody goes through temptations, and everyone has to question their sexuality at some point in their life; especially in today's society where even cartoons adress it.  (a concept gains acceptence simply from repeated exposure, and I personally think the constant media exposure is what drove the gay-rights movement forward with such force.  All the family guys and Always Sunny in Philidelphias are constantly making homosexual references, and even childrens shows (SpongeBob being a noteable example) and games (that gay Yoshi dude-Chick thing) are exposing us to it, and something that is always there cannot be so bad, can it?  In this sense it really is a media conspirancy; intentional or not).

I've never heard of love referred to as "pointless."

And besides, I'm not sure why a "pointless pleasure" would be a problem anyway. So is watching TV. Playing video games. There is no problem in any sort of pleasure unless it involves harming others.

Disapproval of all pleasure not involved with glorifying God was somewhat common in the early days of America and its colonies. Much better that all sex focus on baby making which is important to a cosmic entity because... um... because babies are good and we need them for the Second Coming? That sounds right, and I'll ignore all the dirty reasoning which says otherwise.

And if "pointless pleasure" is the thing to be avoided, I hardly think normalizing it in cartoons is worrisome. Anyone letting their kids watch cartoons has clearly already gone and given up on that fight. But yes, it makes sense that people would oppose it for the same reason they oppose dancing, rock and roll, D&D, fancy clothing, drinking, etc. and so on.

Most of us are not hardcore puritans or Amish though, thank god. And it saddens me that people will pick that one thing to hate on while joyfully accepting the other in stride.
