That should be a thing. Orange flavoured butter.

Orange butter? Pretty sure I've seen that. *google check* Yup, it's a thing. Recipes and everything.

My older brother (the crazy one) made breakfast for everyone this morning, which was very sweet of him to do and he made some pretty tasty breakfast egg sandwiches.  Quite proud of him for doing something very complicated and nice, he used to be a very good cook and it's been a while since I've seen him pull off something like this.  And then I saw the bacon.

Ye gods, the bacon D:  Completely raw, barely singed on one side.  Every time it started to warm up and cook, he'd turn off the heat.  If I could take a guess, I'd say his voices were yelling at him the more noise he made, and bacon is a very noisy food.  I intervened, tried cooking the bacon properly, and my brother snuck a piece of raw bacon and ate it  :-\  Sure hope he isn't going to get sick...

Modern health standards should keep him relatively safe. Contrary to popular belief, you can eat raw meat without much risk of consequence if it is produced in a place where corporations aren't allowed to use sawdust as filler. This doesn't mean it is completely without risk, but unless the source was diseased he'll be fine.

I eat raw bacon and never get sick.  ???
Then again food standards throughout the world are different. Australia has no borders, so keeping diseases out is pretty easy and it is safe to have your steak pink and reheat rice, while I hear that can be risky in other places.

Isn't bacon already cooked once/cured an thus safe to eat?

As meats go, bacon is one of the things that's least likely to kill you for eating it raw, IIRC anyway.

Ham in the US is most often sold precooked (there are exceptions). Bacon is almost always cured and often smoked, but not often cooked. Both significantly retard the ability of bacteria to develop.
